Job Description

Kite is seeking a highly motivated individual with cell culture experience to work on innovative T cell therapy for cancer treatment. The Cell Therapy Specialist will be responsible for cell culture media preparation, cell processing and cell expansion in a cGMP manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Perform all tasks associated with the manufacture of commercial product following batch records and SOPs

Work as part of a small team to execute GMP runs in close collaboration with Product Sciences and Quality

Assist in the development of standard operating procedures, batch records, deviations and change controls

Successfully troubleshoot processing and equipment issues

Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Requires Bachelor's degree and/or advanced degree or 3 or more years of cGMP experience in a manufacturing pharmaceutical/biotechnology environment

Cell culture processing experience

Previous experience with cell therapy products is a plus

Demonstrated knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing of biotechnology products, aseptic processing, cell culture products

Strict adherence to SOPs and cGMP regulations, the ability to accurately complete documentation associated with commercial manufacturing

Excellent aseptic/sterile techniques and prior experience with cell culture, cell culture equipment including Wave bioreactors

Experience with handling and propagation of human primary cells, including T cells

Excellent skill in Microsoft word, Excel and data analysis

Ability to think critically, and demonstrated troubleshooting and problem solving skills

Self-motivated and willing to accept temporary responsibilities outside of initial job description

Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this collaborative work environment

Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities

Ability to work off-shift and long hours as required

Ability to lift over 30 lbs

We are seeking a Process Engineer II, Cell Therapy to support our commercial biotechnology facility in El Segundo that includes general laboratories for bioprocessing. Under minimal supervision, this position's main accountabilities are focused on the front line technical support of manufacturing operations while closely collaborating with the Quality and Product Sciences Unit. Responsibilities (include but are not limited to): * Provide front line technical support for manufacturing of cell therapy products * Ensure successful manufacturing production runs by assessing risk, implementing preventative measures, investigating, and troubleshooting equipment and process issues * Partner with Product Sciences Team to execute process development studies within commercial facility to further develop a thorough understanding of operating and performance parameters * In conjunction with various internal and external stakeholders, investigates and coordinates the resolution of deviations through comprehensive use of Root Cause Analysis tools o Devises and implements CAPAs to address root cause and ensure effectiveness * Collaborating with technical and operational stakeholders, writes and/or revises SOPs, batch records, and other operational related documents * Trends key performance metrics * Participates in internal audit/inspection * Represents Manufacturing operations in Change Control, CAPA and Deviation meetings * Conducts technical training and guidance to the Cell Therapy Specialists * Participates in the implementation of ERP systems * Other tasks and duties as assigned by Management Requirements: * BS in Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology or equivalent with 5+ years of experience. Engineering degree preferred * Cell culture and/or aseptic processing experience * Broad technical knowledge of cGMP compliance and experience with leading investigations, writing, deviation reports, change controls, and corrective actions * Experience with investigation and root cause analysis tools * Skilled at creating and delivering presentations * Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Presentation, Access, and Project * Utilizes technical writing strategies to ensure content is clear and concise * Possesses good communication skills * Experience leading cross functional teams to obtain project deliverables * Working knowledge of scientific and engineering principles * Certified Quality Engineer, Six Sigma Green Belt, Six Sigma Black Belt or similar is a plus * Knowledge of ERP systems implementation is desirable Kite Pharma, an equal opportunity employer, is located in beautiful Santa Monica, CA just steps from Santa Monica Blvd and right off the 10.
