Provides general field support for cell site projects as directed by the Project Supervisor, reports to Journeyman Electrician.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Travel to customer sites to install, repair, and perform preventative maintenance to customer's equipment DC Power Equipment and Cabinets
Operates material handling equipment per OSHA requirements
Maintains a safe, orderly, and clean working environment
Maintains records of performance reports
Performs additions, removals, and modifications on working equipment and circuits including circuit modifications, Cabinet installation, software additions or upgrades, power transition work, and addition or removal of batteries
Maintains inventories of material and equipment for regional use, and transports needed equipment to the job site
Develops and conducts training on the safe operations of the equipment and demonstrates skills to trainees, including team members
Provides the highest quality of service possible in order to assure customer satisfaction
Functions without direct supervision
Completes compliance and job-specific training
Replaces defective parts, installs batteries and related equipment; Installs new equipment at customer's facility to ensure full functionality according to specifications
Installs DC Power Plants, Battery Cabinets, Batteries, alarm wiring/RJ45 connectors. Completes battery connections. Installs DC Power conduits and circuits. Completes test and turn-up of installed equipment. Installs and troubleshoots alarms
Provides on-site technical assistance to help troubleshoot and repair equipment
Is directly responsible for company assets, including a service vehicle, parts inventory, tools and test equipment
Replaces defective parts, installs power plants and cabinets. Installs batteries and tests and records data as necessary
Reads meters and adjusts charge parameters to control time and flow of current through the battery
Ability to perform discharge tests, evaluates results and makes necessary repairs
Ensure day to day complaint logs and plan for a site visit
Ensure calibration of tools as per the due date
Other duties may apply such as training of other personnel
Follows all company policies and procedures as listed, but not limited to warranty, safety, environmental, OSHA, DOT Hazmat, and ISO9000
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver's license
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and the Internet
Basic mechanical aptitude
Previous experience working with hand and power tools
3-6 years' experience in the wireless cell site DC Power related field
A strong understanding of DC Circuits, DC Power plants, Customer type cabinets and install, also alarm wiring and troubleshooting
The use of test equipment and procedures
Basic skills with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat files
Familiarity or ability to read/interpret construction drawings for cell site work and all necessary supporting equipment documentation to implement client construction standards
General Job Requirements
Must be able and willing to do overnight travel
This position requires you to drive a company vehicle. Therefore, you must be able to pass the company's driving requirements. Certain vehicles may also require a specific drivers license and have additional driving requirements.
Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds/23 kilos on a daily continuous basis. Anything heavier will be done with the assistance of a mechanical device or with the assistance of another employee.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Employees are responsible for wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment in the proper manner at all times.
Must be able and willing to wear a respirator.
Must be able and willing to work overtime.
Risk of electrical shock.
This position is exposed to harmful materials such as lead/fiberglass products. Periodic blood tests are required to measure the level of lead. Precautions are taken by the company/employee to reduce the risk of exposure and help ensure everyones safety.
