We are seeking a highly motivated Cell Culture Laboratory Associate to work at our Modeling lab in Bothell, WA. We developed a functional high-throughput drug sensitivity test called PARIS test, that helps oncologists and their patients personalize cancer treatments. This position will contribute to the Organoid Core to assist with processing, maintenance, expansion, and banking of primary human cancer cells obtained from biopsies or surgical procedures. The laboratory is CLIA-certified and the candidate will need to strictly follow CLIA-compliant Standard Operating Procedures. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with aseptic techniques in a BSL-2 laboratory and in the establishment of 2D and/or 3D primary cell culture directly from patients' live specimens. The type of specimen includes biopsies, surgical excisions, or body fluids.

Responsibilities:

  • Process, maintain, expand, and bank primary human cancer cells obtained from various patient specimens in a CLIA-certified laboratory.

  • Strictly follow CLIA-compliant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all laboratory activities.

  • Utilize aseptic techniques in a BSL-2 laboratory to establish 2D and/or 3D primary cell cultures.

  • Record and document every step of every procedure in detail, adhering to laboratory recordkeeping procedures as mandated by CLIA regulations.

  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and optimize complex SOPs.

  • Contribute to the generation of cancer patient-derived organoid (PDO) lines.

  • Generate internal summary reports-aggregating data in spreadsheets when requested, searching the literature for troubleshooting-reagents and materials for different cancer types.

  • Learn and apply techniques to match patient-specific genomic alterations to effective supplements in cell culture conditions, recreating a proliferative cancer microenvironment ex-vivo.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, biotechnology, or a closely related field, or the foreign degree equivalent

  • 1-year prior experience working with aseptic technique in a BSL-2 laboratory.

  • Experience in the establishment of 2D and/or 3D primary cell cultures

  • Previous experience or knowledge in the generation and maintenance of cancer patient-derived organoids (PDO) would be beneficial.

  • Familiarity with Standardization Certified Organization (CLIA, ISO, others) respecting Quality Assurance and Quality Control Criteria. Experience in implementing and maintaining quality control measures and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) in laboratory processes to ensure reproducibility and reliability of results.

  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills.

  • Attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot complex procedures.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-oriented attitude.

  • Proficiency in using laboratory information management systems or other relevant software for efficient data tracking and management.

  • Ability to contribute effectively to a clinical laboratory environment.

  • Flexibility to work on weekends and holidays as required, with a willingness to participate in a rotating schedule with other team members.
