CEI Inspector Aide - Crestview, FL

Halff is seeking an Inspector Aide in Crestview, Florida to act as our company representative on roadway construction sites ensuring that workmanship and materials comply with specifications. The successful candidate will be assigned duties by higher level staff on complex roadway construction projects and must be capable of being assigned to locations and situations where specific direction is provided, receiving instructions regarding multiple assignments, performing basic mathematical calculations and following technical instructions. There is typically only one Inspector Aide on each project responsible to assist two or more higher level inspectors. The successful candidate will gain experience and training in many different trade processes of specialized nature as required.

Typical assignments may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Check and field verify accuracy of dimensions.

• Examine workmanship of finished roadway/bridge installations

• Read and understand plans and specifications with regard to specific items of construction.

• Measure and record quantities of materials received or used during specific periods.

• Maintain daily records as directed by supervisor.

• Perform pickup and delivery of job related items.

• Use specialty equipment including Nuclear Density/Moisture gauges, concrete air meters, slump cone kits, surveying and measuring equipment, and moisture testers.

• Read, understand and implement Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures, standards and requirements.

• Abide by all safety and health standards and requirements.

• Properly use equipment and supplies, and maintain equipment in good and operational condition.

Requirements:

• High school graduate or equivalent

• Florida Driver's License

• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, follow technical instructions, and use measuring instruments.

• Willingness and ability to learn, take direction, gain technical certifications, and use specialty equipment including Nuclear Density/Moisture gauges.

• Ability to read construction plans and calculations desired.

• Knowledge of construction observations, specific trade processes associated with road/bridge construction, and mathematics involving simple formulas from geometry and trigonometry a plus.

Qualifications:

• FDOT Intermediate MOT - Must obtain within the first six months of the assignment.
