Department Overview: This position is a member of the Connected Campus team, which provides support to undergraduate students enrolled in any of UCO's 100% online degree programs. This position works with many offices on campus to ensure that students find the resources that help them complete their online degrees at UCO.
Position Overview: Advises online undergraduate students concerning an appropriate academic schedule, choice of major, number of hours that may be taken, probation, and/or suspension. Contact may be on an individual or group basis or be made by correspondence.
Advises online undergraduate students and evaluates their abilities, interests, talents, and personality characteristics in order to develop appropriate academic and career goals.
Provides individual and group guidance services relative to problems of scholastic, educational, and personal-social nature to online students. Suggests remedial or corrective actions and assists online students in making better adjustments and in planning intelligent life goals.
Plans and directs programs to orient online students and assists in their integration into scholastic life. Interviews Connected Campus students to determine the need for counseling. Performs work under minimal supervision.
Handles complex issues and problems. Possesses solid working knowledge of subject matter. Department Specific Essential Job Functions:
Provide high levels of customer service to undergraduate Connected Campus students, from prospective student inquiries to graduation and degree completion. Provide guidance to online undergraduate students regarding academic planning primarily through virtual media such as live chat, video chat, email, or social media; create and support initiatives to encourage degree completion. Serve as a liaison between Connected Campus students and various campus resources such as academic departments, admission committees, graduation support, and academic advising utilizing a holistic approach to online student success.
Identify enrollment barriers for undergraduate online students and work with internal and external stakeholders to assist online students in navigating University processes. Monitor and track undergraduate Connected Campus student records to ensure persistence, good academic standing, and progress toward completion. Assist in the development and implementation of online student success programs and materials.
Design and complete outreach efforts to former and prospective undergraduate students interested in completing their degrees online. Interact with staff and faculty to develop strategic plans for process improvement and operations for the Connected Campus program. Manage and update databases in a variety of Connected Campus academic programs.
Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in job related field plus 3 years of work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Qualifications Preferred:
Master’s degree. Some experience in the admission and enrollment process is highly preferred. Familiarity with admission and enrollment process at the University of Central Oklahoma or in an institution of higher education setting and its undergraduate degree programs.
Experience with Excel, CRM, and a variety of technology a plus. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Some knowledge of marketing and recruitment practices.
Knowledgeable in the higher education attainment process, particularly the requirements and general value of education. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
Ability to multitask and work well under pressure. Ability to spend a majority of the day on the computer. Willingness to work within the academic framework of the University and to serve on faculty and student committees.
Ability to actively foster and maintain a climate that is supportive of students and demonstrates Student Affairs’ Standard of Care. Must be proficient in basic mathematics.
