Housed in the UT Austin Department of Computer Science, Computer and Data Science Online (CDSO) administers an innovative suite of at-scale online master's degree programs offered by the University of Texas at Austin. CDSO's online programs currently include the Master of Computer Science (MSCS), the Master of Data Science (MSDS), and the forthcoming (Spring 2024) Master in Artificial Intelligence. Priced affordably, built flexibly to accommodate working professionals, and scaled to educate thousands, these programs extend the promise of advanced technical education to a wide and varied student population.

Purpose

Reporting to the CDSO Director for Online Programs, the Senior Academic Program Coordinator will oversee provide administrative academic support and serve as a primary point of student contact for CDSO's online degree programs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary point of contact for graduate students. Provide in-depth information, clarification and interpretation of institutional and graduate program rules and regulations. Answer queries and process requests from students and faculty regarding enrollment issues such as leaves of absence, withdrawals, adds and drops and readmission; liaise with University offices to obtain approvals for petitions as required. Assist students with related inquiries including transferring credits, platform related guidance, etc. Advise students regarding enrollment issues and maintain records as required. Oversee the daily operations of the Graduate Office.

  • Assist with student registration, provide enrollment support and maintain student records and databases. Oversee all tasks associated with student enrollment, including but not limited to surveys, course registration and notification to students of enrollment bars.

  • Serve as primary point of contact with UT Graduate School on registration and degree evaluation.

  • Maintain tracking system to assess and evaluate graduate program effectiveness, student retention, grade point averages, academic outcomes, and student placement; provide and utilize relevant data to improve graduate advising and program activities. Inform faculty regarding graduate student progress as necessary. Responsible for ensuring compliance with institutional rules, regulations, and procedures.

  • Manage issues related to University requirements for progress toward degree, and maintain and degree audit system in EASI.

  • Participate in occasional online information sessions.

  • Request website updates as needed each semester, assist in maintenance/updating of program documentation and student resources, including student handbooks, Central Courses, and program website.

  • Represent graduate student interests and concerns during team and program meetings. Monitor and represent CDSO programs in relevant campus-wide communities and forums, including the Graduate Coordinator Network.

  • Assist Online Programs Team on specific tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree/equivalent from accredited university

  • Five years of experience working with college students in an administrative or advising capacity

  • Outstanding customer service skills; proven ability to work with varied populations successfully

  • Documented ability to collaborate successfully and to work independently

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple administrative tasks simultaneously

  • Experience organizing and managing a large volume of data with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with online courses and/or programs

  • Some project management experience

  • Experience using internal UT student tracking and information systems

  • Experience using Salesforce

  • Proven ability to provide practical solutions in the resolution of complex issues

  • Proven ability to exercise high levels of discretion and independent judgment in interpreting and implementing program, school, and University policies

  • Demonstrated experience establishing priorities to meet critical deadlines and short and long term strategic goals

Salary Range

$60,000+ depending on qualifications

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
