TITLE: CDL-A Delivery Driver

SCHEDULE: Monday Friday (or as otherwise directed)

SUPERVISOR: Delivery Manager


  • Responsible for the safe operation of road tractor and 53 dry van
  • Deliver pre-sold products to accounts
  • Accurately check in route drivers at assigned shuttle locations
  • Load empties on trucks for return to supplier as required
  • Maintain courteous and respectful attitude toward customers and co-workers
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.


  • CDL Class A with a minimum of 2 years experience (required)
  • High School Diploma
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the State of VA
  • Ability and willingness to work independently
  • Ability to pass Specialty Beverage back functionality test, DOT Physical and Drug Screen


  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate business equipment including, but not limited to, computer keyboard, telephone, adding machine and copier
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment including, but not limited to, forklift, pallet jack, hand truck
  • Climbing stairs and inclined surfaces on an occasional basis
  • Walking on hard surfaces on a frequent basis
  • Frequent exposure to temperatures ranging from 30 - 100 degrees F on a seasonal basis.

We are a close-knit group that works together to provide the best service to both new and existing customers. Job Summary Drivers load trucks and make merchandise deliveries and pickups. They work safely at all times. They are friendly, observant, and able to determine customer needs and communicate that information to the Manager and/or Warehouse Supervisor. Warehouse Employees are generally responsible for counting, verifying and receiving incoming vendor shipments and customer return material; for stocking and maintaining the warehouse; and for picking, documenting and packing customer orders in accordance with Company policy and procedure. Their attention to detail ensures the highest levels of customer satisfaction. Job Duties * Drive Hajoca truck, operating it safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws and regulations. Destinations include job sites, customer facilities, vendor facilities, other Hajoca locations, facilities of other wholesalers, or other locations as directed by management. * Load the truck at the Profit Center with Hajoca merchandise to be delivered. Secure the load properly so that nothing will shift, get damaged or fall from the truck. Ensure the necessary equipment to safely unload the merchandise is available. Affix the appropriate DOT hazmat truck placards if hauling hazardous materials in excess of 1,000 pounds. * Understand the shipping documents that are associated with the merchandise for each delivery, and have accurate directions to each delivery destination. * Unload correct merchandise from the truck and place it where the receiving party wants it. Obtain legible signature for all merchandise delivered per Company policy and procedure. * For all cash sale deliveries, collect and secure outstanding payments prior to releasing the material to the customer. * Work with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and accurately. * Load the truck at other locations with merchandise. This includes merchandise picked up at vendor locations, returned by customers, and purchased from other wholesalers. * Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses discovered in the course of making deliveries. * Inspect the truck and required parts and accessories to determine safe operating condition prior to departure from the Hajoca location. Keep truck clean of debris in cab and body. * Advise management of any mechanical problems with the truck. At the end of the workday, complete the Driver's Daily Vehicle Inspection Report when driving a delivery vehicle with a gross weight greater than 10,000 pounds. * At the end of the workday, remove keys from the truck and store keys in the approved location. * Receiving Duties o Upon receipt of a vendor shipment or customer return, obtain the packing slip and count and verify material received. Note received quantities and all shipping discrepancies (overshipments, undershipments, mis-shipments, damage/shorted freight claim) on the packing slip. o Print and verify the computer receiving documents and receive material in the system or, when applicable, forward the receiving documents to the office personnel for data entry. o Identify nonstock, special order material and damaged material and store in proper warehouse locations. o Note all shipping discrepancies on freight carrier's Bill of Lading; initiate freight claims with freight carriers or forward appropriate paperwork to designated employee. * Picking and Shipping Duties o Pick material for orders, note quantities picked on the shipping document, assemble and package the materials for shipment/pick up. o Check picked material against printed ticket to ensure accuracy. o Complete necessary documentation for customer shipments delivered via third-party carrier. * Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required. As a Driver with Hajoca, you must be friendly, service-oriented, and have a high level of attention to detail. All interested applicants must possess: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Know laws, rules and regulations governing driving motor vehicles in general, and commercial vehicles subject to Department of Transportation regulations in particular. * Able to safely operate any delivery vehicle, including commercial motor vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,000 pounds or more. * Know of, be able to apply and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment. * Able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors and co-workers. * Able to remain calm and function effectively in stressful, unexpected, and/or emergency situations. * Able to learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment. * Read, write, speak and understand English. * Add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Education, Training, Experience * At least 21 years old * High school diploma or equivalent * A valid commercial driver's license (CDL) for the vehicle(s) being driven, with hazmat endorsement if operating a vehicle that requires placarding for hazardous materials * A driving record that demonstrates good driving skills in compliance with Company policy * Must pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work; to be updated every two years while employed and performing this job function * Experience driving a truck and making deliveries preferred Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
