The Baltimore City Department of Public Works is currently recruiting for the position of Seasonal Maintenance Aide/Driver (SMA/Driver) to provide adequate coverage to various operations within Baltimore City.

Selection Process

Seasonal Maintenance Aide/Driver operates and drives trucks and/or other heavy equipment. This opportunity involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities.

It may include laboring duties in conjunction with driving. Employees in this position may work evening, holiday, weekend and callback schedules. Work may be performed in vehicles where inclement weather, poor driving conditions and traffic and equipment hazards may be encountered.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicant must hold a valid CDL license (Class A or Class B) and provide a driving record at the time an application is submitted. A certified driving record must also be submitted within 30 days of hire date that reflects no more than 2 points on the record. Applicant must also successfully pass the pre-placement requirements of a drug and alcohol test and also a physical.

Applicants applying for SMA Driver class must provide:

A valid Maryland (Class A or Class B) Commercial Driver's License or equivalent out-of-state drivers' license acceptable to the Office of Risk management, if required. A valid updated driving record (note: applicant will need to submit an updated driving record within 30 day of their hire date that reflects no more than 2 points on their record).

  • Skilled in safe operation of automobiles, trucks, tractors and other related vehicles.

  • Ability to perform laboring tasks.

  • Ability to follow directions.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: The salary range for this position is $68,562 - $109,554 and is commensurate with education and experience and includes an excellent benefits package.
