CDL Delivery Driver

Prime Machine is searching for a Delivery Driver to join our expanding team based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Who are we?

Prime Machine, Inc. was created in 1979 to provide emergency Industrial Equipment Repair and New Component Fabrication Services to a wide range of Customers statewide and beyond. We currently provide Large and Small Machine Shop Services, Welding Fabrication, Millwright Field Services, Gearbox Repair, and State-of-the-Art Laser Inspection Services. Our major Customers are found in Mining, Power Generation, Aerospace & Defense, and other critical Industries. Our primary deliveries consist of a truck and trailer.

What are a few of the duties of a Delivery Driver at Prime Machine?

• Safety of the truck under control, including proper weight limits, proper tie-down procedures and following all traffic laws.

• Loading and unloading shipments using forklifts and overhead cranes.

• Perform a pre-operational check to ensure that the truck is safe and suitable for the job to be performed.

• Assist the Fleet Manager in truck maintenance, oil changes, tire rotation, etc.

• Alert the Fleet Manager if there are any issues with the trucks.

• Ensure that all customer deliveries have a signed packing list (delivery ticket) after delivery.

• Ensure that Shipping and Receiving manager is aware of all delivery of customer items and knows the location.

• Ensure that DOT card is current as appropriate. Notify your supervisor when renewal is necessary.

• Ability to properly drive and backup a goose neck trailer.

• Maintain DOT Logbook, as required.

• Ensure that all suitable PPE is available and worn when on a customer job site, including wheel chocks, hard hat, etc.

• Ensures that all straps, trailer hitches, etc. that are necessary for pick-up and delivery are in good working condition and are safe to use.

• Ensure that the vehicles being used throughout the day has been returned to the security yard and keys turned in.

• Rigging and securing large and difficult loads. Must have knowledge of strapping and securing the load on a trailer or flatbed truck

• Driving ½ ton and 1 ton flatbed trucks. Our fleet consists of F-150, 350, and 450's. Flatbed and dually options.

• Mapping out and prioritizing routes.

What experience and expertise are needed?

• High school diploma or GED

• Minimum of 3 years if driving

• Current CDL or ability to have within 90-days

• Must have previous experience with gooseneck, 5th wheel, and other forms of trailers.

• Rigging and securing of the loads

• Ability to drive trucks of various sizes.
