Job Summary:

Delivers 10 15 deliveries per day operating a 26ft Straight Truck with lift-gate. Our Dry-Ice product is stored in industrial cooler to customers such as, Grocery stores, Military bases, and Medical institutions.

Along dedicated routes while providing world class customer service assuring that each client is serviced to Airgas customer service standards.

Each driver must perform pre and post trip vehicle inspections per Airgas Safety practices to ensure optimal safety of our employees by documenting deficiencies and ensures all safety items are in good working order.

Schedule: 4:00 AM - 2:00 PM - Monday Friday
Stops: 10 15 stop per day
Loading/Unloading required Using Electric pallet jack stored on truck to off load.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 1 year of verifiable driving experience in the past 4 years or driving school training.
Graduation from an accredited truck driving school with diploma will count as 1 year of required experience
No preventable accidents of any kind in the last 3 years
No more than 2 minor tickets in the last 3 years
No serious violation ticket (speeding 15 , reckless driving, etc.) in the last 3 years
No suspensions of CDL in the last 3 years except for "Failure to pay child support"
No DUI in the last 7 years

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.

As needed, to deliver cargo to and for customers in an allotted period of time in a safe manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, state, and federal regulations. Job Functions * Load and unload freight using a lift truck and by hand. Sort and segregate freight by destination; Verify freight counts; Scan trailer door bar codes to ensure freight is loaded into correct location; Follows bar code scanner operating procedures and policies * Verify shipping information from the scan unit to ensure freight is labeled to go to the correct destination * Scan barcode on freight being unloaded as needed. Send barcode information to hyster scan unit * Report overage, shortages and damages according to operating procedures * May review loaded trailer margin, weight distribution, split shipment, and urgent deliveries * Operate a truck over roads, highways and interstates to pick up and deliver cargo to and from customers and/or loading terminals. Obey all traffic laws and drive with caution while operating the motor vehicle. May attach bar codes to freight for tracking and routing * Actively pursue an excellent working relationship with customers by ensuring prompt and courteous service. Display a professional and courteous demeanor at all times. * Select an efficient route in compliance with delivery instructions and fuel policy. * Prepare and submit logs in compliance with DOT regulations and company policy. * When making pickups, verify that load information, destination information, and dispatch instructions are correct. * Verify that seals and trailer numbers correspond on documents before leaving pick up locations * Verify all items listed on the work order/bill of lading are delivered and provide the customer with an accurate bill of lading on delivery. * Ensure that freight is handled and stored according to customer specifications. Perform necessary trailer duties and follow all cargo procedures for freight type. * Work with customers to resolve issues and report any issues to appropriate management. * Maintain effective and clear communications with management and customers and notify Operations of any service issues that arise. * Immediately report damage or other claim issues that arise to customer or site personnel while on site and then to the Claims Department. Immediately report any damage to equipment or third parties to the Claims Department. * Inspect truck for safety and maintenance needs and make sure obtain appropriate maintenance (e.g., lights, safety equipment, etc.). * Communicate safe storage and handling procedures to customers. * Maintain a clean and neat physical appearance. * Maintain a clean vehicle. * Ability to work on XGS site while performing essential functions * May include other duties as assigned by Management. Class B license is required in locations with straight trucks, CDL Class A license preferred in all locations and required in locations without straight trucks.* * Ability to operate a pallet jack * Knowledge of DOT (including, but limited to, Hours of Service regulations), OSHA, federal, and state laws pertaining to operating a commercial vehicle. * Must be able to read and interpret all road and traffic signs. Must also be able to read and understand routing directions when using a road map or other communication system. Must be able to read and speak English. * Must be able operate motor vehicle during high traffic situations. * Must have skills necessary to operate a straight truck, practice defensive driving, and the ability to load and unload freight. Must remain in compliance with all applicable DOT requirements. * Ability to communicate clearly and frequently with customers and Operations. * Ability to meet strict pick up and delivery deadlines. * Ability to understand and follow all safety regulations and traffic laws * Ability to perform high lifts, medium lifts, low lifts and overhead lifts up to 50 pounds, must be able to lift and carry 70 pounds, must be able to push up to 200 pounds, and pull up to 100 pounds * Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods. * Ability to make quick, rational decisions and have full and constant use of arms, hands, legs and feet while performing driving tasks such as turning, slowing, braking, passing, backing and parking the vehicle. * Ability to stand and completely balance on full body weight while entering and exiting the straight truck. * Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time while operating the vehicle. * Must be able to reach all vehicle controls for operation and all equipment for pre-trip inspections, including overhead reach and reach across midline. * Must be able to handle and finger all vehicle controls for operation and all equipment for pre-trip inspections, maintain a constant and firm grip, and perform frequent fine hand manipulation. * Must be able to crouch or squat to a minimum height of 18" during inspections. * Must be able to crawl under a minimum height of 44" during pre-trip inspections. * Must be able to turn head 90 degrees bilaterally. * Must be able to maintain balance on level and un-level ground and at elevations. * Must be able to tolerate moderate aerobic activity at a heart rate that does not exceed 85% of maximum heart rate. * Must be able to work outside 10%-20% of work shift and ability to work inside a trailer without climate control for 10%-15% of a shift. * Ability to stoop a minimum of 40" and kneel a minimum of 18" during pre-trip inspections. * Driver will be required to take and pass a pre-employment DOT physical and additional DOT physicals during employment as required. * Driver will be required to take and pass a pre-employment drug screen and additional random drug screens as required.
