Job Description:

Position Summary:

CDL Class A Shuttle drivers transport products to and from distribution center, domicile yards, vendor locations, and other locations as assigned.

Perform all required safety checks (i.e. pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations; inspect tractor/truck and trailer to insure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed. Report all safety issues and/or repairs required.
Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies. Immediately report any and all safety hazards.
Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight. Perform count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded. Check and complete in an accurate and in legible fashion all required paper work associated with freight.
Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule.
Perform hook/unhook procedures per safety guidelines. Park and store tractor trailers in designated areas. Ensure all equipment and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured at all times.
Collect and secure damaged goods and customer returns in empty trailer to bring back to driver check-in at base facility and complete necessary paperwork. Unload all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required.
Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state and company requirements.
Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience

Valid CDL A with Doubles Endorsement
Must be 21 years of age
Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
Work required 3rd shift schedule, Sunday -Thursday nights (schedules may vary)
Pass pre-employment drug test
Pass road test
Valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift; product generally ranges from approximately 60 to 90 pounds, depending on the location.

Preferred Qualifications

1+ years commercial driving experience
Foodservice distribution industry experience
Onboard computer and electronic log system experience (i.e. PeopleNet)
Hand-held point of delivery scanning system experience (i.e. POD)

Drivers use a multitude of methods including manual lifting, use of two wheel dolly, ramps, and/or carts in multi-temperature environments. $5000.00 Sign On Bonus Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to: * Safe and professional operation of a commercial motor vehicle, including but not limited to: Combination vehicles, straight trucks, or other vehicles such as pick-up trucks and service vans with a GVWR or GCWR over 10,001 lbs. * Complete pre-trip, in-route, and post-trip inspections of equipment. * Ability to operate vehicles in congested areas with limited space and potential obstacles. * Comply with all applicable Department of Transportation regulations including but not limited: Controlled Substances, Commercial Driver Licensing, Driver Qualification, CMV Operation, Hours of Service; CSA inspections and compliance, Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance, etc. * Maintain an acceptable driving record in compliance with Department of Transportation Regulations. * Utilize an on board computer to track hours of service. * Provide exceptional customer service. * Safely and accurately unload and deliver multi-temperature product to customers utilizing a variety of preferred methods including lift gates, carts, conveyers, hand trucks, and/or pallet jacks. * Utilize barcode scanners at the point of delivery as required to verify delivered product. * Pick up returned product as required. * Accurately complete delivery and pick up paperwork. * Maintain contact with Dispatch to receive delivery or pick up instructions or changes in scheduled deliveries or pick-ups. * Maintain route plan as provided by Dispatch. Required Qualifications * Drivers must have a valid Class A CDL license for interstate commerce. * Minimum of 1 year driving experience with a Class A-CDL or equivalent military driving experience. * We are an interstate carrier, by law you must be at least 21 years of age. * Candidates must have a satisfactory motor vehicle record. * Must be able to operate a two-wheel cart up and down a delivery ramp. * Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are required. * This position must pass a post-offer background, DOT physical, and drug test. * Be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently and lift and/or move up to 100 pounds occasionally.
