Job Description

In the CDL Driver role, you will be traveling to locations along an assigned route where you will be responsible for packing, transporting, and properly disposing of waste materials in accordance with our environmentally responsible policies and procedures. This position requires the maintenance of records with accuracy and attention to detail, the ability to follow instruction, and to work independently once provided proper training.

This position requires 2-4 overnights per week and some weekend work. You will be provided with a company card to pay for a hotel and given a daily stipend to cover food and other expenses.

Job Details

  • Package and transport waste safely according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations.

  • Complete required paperwork in accordance with appropriate regulations and customer policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Load and secure materials and waste or unload truck at various customer sites or Clean Earth locations.

  • Prepare and load truck with necessary supplies.

  • Provide the highest level of customer service to assigned accounts daily while communicating any issues to the Manager or Dispatcher for resolution.

  • Perform a documented pre-trip and post-trip check on assigned truck prior to leaving and closing each day.

  • Plan schedule/route based on customer needs by reviewing daily paperwork (e.g. manifests, route sheets, etc.).

  • Follow routing software route schedule.

  • Follow all DOT guidelines while driving.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 21 years of age

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Understand, read, and write English

  • Able to repeatedly lift and carry up to 75 lbs.

  • Able to stand, bend, and walk for extended periods of time

  • Basic knowledge of Windows-based software (Word, Excel, etc)

  • Willing and able to wear company-provided personal protective equipment such as eye protection, foot protection, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator (as needed)

  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

  • Able to pass a DOT physical, drug test, and DEA background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hazmat endorsement (candidates will be expected to obtain as a condition of employment after hire)

  • Valid TWIC Card

  • At least 1 year of route driving experience

  • Knowledge of hazardous materials and OSHA regulations

Job Description Responsible for the identification, removal, packaging, transportation, and disposing of various hazardous materials in compliance with proper procedures for hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling and management. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: * Pick up and transport waste safely according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations. Label containers and complete pre-printed manifests / work orders. Schedule shipments into or off site. * Performs warehouse work related to receipt, shipment, storage, distribution, or delivery of waste materials. Loads, unloads, moves, or stores items according to delivery or routing documents, or supervisor instructions and performing general housekeeping duties. * Operates a hand truck, forklift, or other heavy equipment. * Classify, segregate, and inventory waste containers in storage for shipment. Conducts lab pack operations. Pack small laboratory containers of chemical waste into larger containers for shipment. * Performs various regulatory compliance and safety tasks including, but not limited to: Pre-trip inspections of vehicle, report all losses, spills, accidents, and safety violations to supervisor immediately. and resolve leaking containers/containers in non-DOT shippable condition. * Contacts (Internal/External): Ongoing contact with all levels of Customers on a daily basis in delivering, promoting, and collecting waste containers. Regular contact with many different levels of personnel. * Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Experience, Knowledge, and Education Requirements: Education and Technical Requirements * Education equivalent to a high school diploma required * Relevant industry or college experience is preferred. * CDL Class A required * VacTruck experience preferred but can be trained. * CDL HAZMaterials endorsement is also require for transporting waste. * TWIC endorsement is a plus. * Two or more years of experience with a straight truck or combo vehicle required as well as with roll-off bins / boxes. * May require mandatory immunizations and credentialing based on customer requirements. * Demonstrates strong working knowledge of Environmental/Regulatory/DOT rules and regulations. * Demonstrates the ability to read a map. * May require forklift driver certification and six or more months of relevant experience. * Demonstrates knowledge of computer software applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. * Maintains a current Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC) issued by a doctor. * Must work safely and carefully to prevent injury to self and others while driving, loading, and unloading vehicle.
