The CDL Driver transports live goods from a distribution center to a Home Depot or greenhouse growing location via 53' Tractor Trailer. Our Drivers are a key partner serving Bell Nursery's growing logistics operation. You will work closely with our team at our Distribution Centers and act as a representative of our company with our client. The safety of our team is priority #1. As such, we pay close attention to DOT adherence and schedule to ensure our team is rested and road ready!
Tasks and Responsibilities
Picks up assignment at distribution center and paperwork.
Helps load and drive 53' Tractor Trailer
Drive to the Home Depot or greenhouse growing location by the most time efficient route.
Unload the live goods at the Home Depot or greenhouse growing location per company standards.
Any other tasks as assigned from time to time
Skills and Competencies
Ability to appropriately handle live goods.
Ability to prioritize activities and use available resources to complete required tasks.
Ability to communicate effectively with store personnel and law enforcement.
Ability to deal with a fast-paced environment.
Ability to follow direction.
Must possess and maintain a Class A Commercial Driver's license issued by the state of residence of the driver.
Must be 21 years of age or older
Minimum 2 years driving a tractor trailer required
Must possess a clean driving record.
Must be able to pass a driving test.
Must be able to pass an occupational chemical screen upon hire and every six months thereafter.
Sufficient English fluency to communicate with store personnel and law enforcement officials.
Ability to work varied hours/days as business needs dictate.? Ability to work at least one weekend day a must.
Ability to work extra hours as business needs dictate.
Ability to sit for significant periods of time.
Ability to read, count and write accurately to complete all documentation.
Ability to move merchandise generally weighing anywhere from 0-60 lbs.
Ability to bend, stoop, reach, twist, lift, push, pull and move items.
Ability to communicate with associates and customers.
Effect the safe and compliant operation of company equipment.
Maintain record of Hours of Service in accordance with CFR Title 49, Part 395 of the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Regulations.
Perform Pre-and Post-Trip Inspections and document as required by CFR Title 49, Part 396 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
Follow and comply with appropriate Bell Nursery Policies and Rules.
Accept assignment of work for any customer account as determined by Operations Management.
Ability to drive a truck with a standard transmission.
Ability to read a map.
Ability to use GPS.
Must have current medical (DOT) card
Should expect to be scheduled for weekend work
