Responsibilities
Facilitates and obtains appropriate physician documentation for any clinical conditions or procedures to support the appropriate severity of illness, expected risk of mortality and complexity of care of the patient. Educates members of the patient care team regarding documentation guidelines.
Qualifications
Education• Associate's Degree in Nursing and 2 years clinical experience in acute hospital setting with demonstrated expertise in Med/Surg, OB, Trauma, ICU, and/or CCU required or• One of the following is requiredo Bachelor's Degree in Nursingo Doctor of Medicine (MD) or foreign equivalento Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or foreign equivalent
Experience• Prior coding or Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) program experience preferred
Licenses and Certifications• RN - Current State of California Registered Nurse license if education is in Nursing required• CCDS - Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist preferred• CDIP - Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner preferred
