The newly-created UNE Center for Cell Signaling Research (CCSR) is looking for a Program Manager to coordinate and carry out a variety of administrative functions associated with the development, implementation, promotion, and assessment of the Center. The Program Manager is a key position for the operation of the Center. In addition to providing administrative support and conducting program assessments, the Program Manager creates promotional materials and organizes all Center activities.

Responsibilities

Administrative

  • Establish, monitor, and maintain consistent and effective communication with Center investigators and research core facilities

  • Assist in Center budget planning, monitor expenditures, and process budget documents

  • Organize and coordinate various Center related activities and events

  • Coordinate, initiate, prepare, process, and monitor a variety of forms, records, schedules, reports, and other documents related to assigned administrative functions, ensuring timely and accurate completion and review of documents by the Center Director

  • Assist in grant submissions and progress reports

  • Perform regular administrative duties to support the Center Director including ordering office supplies, maintaining appointment calendars, arranging meetings

  • Initiate new hire paperwork and assist with onboarding professional staff and faculty

  • Initiate paperwork related to Center temporary employment pay and student pay

  • Perform other specialized/technical tasks as needed by the Center Director

Evaluation

  • Develop and implement program evaluation plans for the CCSR research core facility, pilot project program, and mentorship program

  • Monitor and evaluate the functioning of the CCSR research core facility

  • Compile program evaluation data and write summary reports of COBRE grant-related progress

  • Plan and prepare a variety of regular and special reports related to assigned functions, involving background research, compilation and analysis of data from a variety of sources, and so forth

Center Promotion and Outreach

  • Work with the Communications Office to develop materials for the CCSR website

  • Manage social media pages and networking software for the Center

  • Write and design materials to promote the Center and research core facilities

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Master's degree in an appropriate discipline (Life Sciences or related field), plus two years business or office administrative experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.

  • Knowledge of and excitement for cell signaling/biochemistry/cell biology research

  • Ability to work independently

  • Relevant knowledge and skills related to organizing and maintaining moderately complex records systems, including computer applications

  • Excellent administrative skills, with some relevant budget experience helpful

  • Ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals both inside and outside the University

  • Excellent writing skills are essential

  • Experience with budgets, data analysis, and using the Banner system

  • Previous experience in program evaluation is desirable
