CCB Risk

Chase Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) serves consumers and small businesses with a broad range of financial services, including personal banking, small business banking and lending, mortgages, credit cards, payments, auto finance and investment advice. Consumer & Community Banking Risk Management partners with each CCB sub-line of business to identify, assess, prioritize and remediate risk. Types of risk that occur in consumer businesses include fraud, reputation, operational, credit, market and regulatory, among others

An associate position in the Small Business Card Risk Management team provides the opportunity to learn, grow, and develop, while making significant contributions to the business. The role requires thoughtful leadership and analytic skills to develop, monitor and manage business card risk and performance and to participate in key business banking risk initiatives. A successful candidate must also possess the ability to identify key risks and problems, conduct in-depth research, and clearly articulate proposed solutions. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Conduct analysis to assess customer profitability, risks and opportunities to develop new credit risk strategies and drive healthy business growth, considering a full cycle view of risk and profitability

  • Develop small business risk strategies through advanced analytical and segmentation techniques.

  • Leverage deep business understanding and analytic skills to support initiatives with business partners, including marketing, finance and other risk functions.

  • Work with risk execution to implement, validate, and monitor strategy quality and performance and to ensure robust controls and governance approach for managing operational risk.

  • Work with governance and control groups to support internal audit and external regulatory requests.

  • Manage projects in cross-functional organizations working collaboratively across Risk COE's and xLOB partners, both in consumer and commercial banking.

  • MS or PhD degree in Statistics, Economics/Econometrics, Applied Economics, Decision Science, Operations Research, Mathematics (or equivalent quantitative field)

  • 3+ years of relevant analytics/modeling/optimization experience. Experience in financial firm/business banking industry is preferred.

  • Expertise with software packages including SAS, SQL, Enterprise Miner/Knowledge Seeker/CART, MS Office/VBA.

  • Proven analytical thinker with ability to identify, analyze and solve problems in a thoughtful and organized manner to develop innovative strategy recommendations.

  • Results oriented with attention to detail and strong sense of responsibility.

  • Ability to present to Senior Management displaying excellent verbal and written communication skills to influence outcomes.

Preferred Skills

  • Previous experience in credit risk strategy team and familiarity with commercial credit bureaus is a plus

The candidate will be responsible for execution of pre-screen strategies at the bureau and different origination channels. In this role you will: * Conduct complex interaction analysis of risk, behavior, and profitability to integrate risk appetite based framework into consumer credit risk strategies. * Conduct research and analysis of the performance and profitability of existing strategies and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, procedural alignment with risk policy, and maintain strong control environment. * Provide consistent framework to assess loss and profitability dynamics associated with credit decisions in normal as well as stressed economic scenarios. * Perform in-depth analysis to develop methodology, algorithm, and financially sound evaluation framework for credit risk strategies. * Utilize risk modeling, profitability modeling, and relevant statistical knowledge to develop risk analysis framework. * Partner with other strategy areas of risk, marketing, and finance to coordinate integration of risk appetite framework into credit strategies. * Work with external vendors and internal technology partners to develop robust process to execute card risk strategies. * Perform analytics to support the pre-screen engines in terms of risk, consumer behavior, profile changes, performance shift, and inform senior management of key areas of concern. * 3-5+ years of experience in banking analytics and consumer behavior analysis experience or related experience * Technical: working knowledge of SAS and SQL. * Analytical: Ability to provide insights by collecting and analyzing large amount of data * Communication: Good oral and written communication skill * Behavioral: Ability to work in teams, as well as individually * Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred prior financial services work experience preferred, but not required * Experience applying complex mathematical models, assessing the accuracy of statistical models relating to changes in consumer behavior and analyzing the sensitivity related to key behavioral changes including attrition, spend, balance build and loyalty * Strong analytical, interpretive and problem solving skills with the ability to interpret large amounts of data and its impact in both operational and financial areas * Ability to compress large amounts of data into short and concise presentations with sound business conclusions Jpmorgan Chase & Co.
