Think Small, Minnesotas leader in early learning, is dedicated to advancing early childhood care and education. This position determines eligibility for Basic Sliding Fee Child Care Assistance and maintains waiting lists based on state priority groups when funding is not available and to start application process when funding is available.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform family intake screening using client information and public assistance databases

  • Apply MNs, P1s and P4s

  • Ensure accuracy and continued service delivery for cases transferred to Think Small at P2/TYE funding

  • Add and remove families from appropriate waiting lists according to eligibility and funding

  • Wait list clean ups

  • Refer parents to various programs for assistance

  • Promote CCAP services at community events

  • Assist department supervisors in training new staff in department positions and use of county and state software systems


  • Associates degree in Human Services or related field

  • 6 months experience in administrative service with public assistance clients

  • Knowledge of child care assistance programs and policies and experience administrative service with public assistance clients preferred

  • Working knowledge of basic MS Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel)

  • Working knowledge of public assistance computer systems preferred

Think Small offers a minimum starting wage of $15.34/hr for this position and a unique benefit package which includes:

The essential job functions of this position include: Care Coordination and referrals-coordinate care or support needs and refer for services as required. Client Assessment-provide initial and ongoing screening and assessment as required. Engagement-provide participants engagement or program outreach as required. Service Delivery-provide services in accordance with operating procedures, regulatory requirements and best practice. Wilder's Customized Living program is co-located in two Saint Paul Public Housing buildings, serving clients living in their own apartments who need additional supportive services, such as medication management, housekeeping and personal cares, in order to live independently. Job Qualifications Three to five years in social work, care coordination or related position; experience with older adults preferred. Bachelor's degree preferred, in social work or similar area of study.
