The Member will serve alongside their fellow AmeriCorps Members to provide support to the mentors and children. A strong emphasis is placed on building relationships with students, parents and mentors.
The AmeriCorps member in this position will: Establish and maintain professional relationships with elementary, middle and/or high schools within the assigned territory. Partner with elementary, middle and/or high school staff and faculty to identify and recruit children for participation in BBBSMV mentoring programs.
Work with community partners to identify potential volunteer mentors for participation in BBBSMV mentoring programs. Coordinate child enrollments, including child/parent/guardian interviews, communication with parents/guardians, communication with teachers or school officials, and completion of any other enrollment processes per the Service Delivery Model, Standards of Practice and BBBSMV Policies and Procedures. Match children with appropriate mentors. o Effectively assess and execute the following relational support skills: guiding, supporting, confronting, advising and/or negotiating; relate well in multicultural environments.
Provide timely and comprehensive written summaries of all contacts following national and local standards in the Agency Information Management system. Administer measurement tools, to include customer satisfaction surveys, program outcome evaluations, strength of relationship and youth outcome surveys. Ensure the Standards of Practice, Service Delivery Model, and BBBSMV Policies and Procedures are being followed at all times.
