BACKGROUND AND OVERVIEW:

The Behavioral Health Services (BHS) department is responsible for supporting the behavioral health needs of all students. Through a continuum of promotion, prevention, at-risk, and intensive services, the staff of BHS provides direct services to students as well as support to school staff and families. Working closely with community partners and allied city agencies, the BHS department assists in connecting schools, students, and families with needed community support.

Position Summary and General Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Senior Director

  • Behavioral Health Services, the Behavioral Health Services Program Director will work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including schools, district staff, community partners, parents, and youth to support the planning, development, and implementation of MTSS and the expanded role of school psychological services.

The CBHM Program Director develops, implements, and manages activities related to CBHM Implementation across all schools in BPS. The CBHM Program Director facilitates the BHS Implementation Team including developing and implementing our program evaluation to ensure we are able to share dataon the outcomes and outputs of the department. The CBHM Program Director is also instrumental in developing protocols, procedures, and designs for all related activities.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Records and Data Collection, Analysis and Management

  • Coordinate and assess record keeping, including centralized student psychological records and related data.

  • Analyze data and identify areas of need (i.e. gaps in services to marginalized sub-groups) to inform training, evaluations, and successful implementation of promising practices.

  • Coordinate and supervise the development and implementation of school psychological services in compliance with district, state, and federal policies and regulations.

  • Designs and implements all data collection and program evaluations of the department.

  • Develop work and project plans and chart progress against them.

  • Appropriately update supervisor regarding progress towards project goals, and support needed.

  • Oversee the collection and organization of BHSData, including (but not limited to) the following databases/sources:

  • BPS Data systems

  • BIMAS-2

  • BHS Monthly

  • Tiered Fidelity Measure (TFI)

  • BHSWorkshop Evaluations

  • Mental Health Partnership data

Evaluation

  • Coordinator with the BPS implementation team, which is responsible for supporting the implementation of /MTSS and evaluation of outcomes. This includes evaluating inputs, outputs, and outcomes (as explained in the BHS Strategic Plan ) at the student, school, and district levels.

  • Provide guidance and support for the design of evaluation activities/evaluation plans that align with BPS/BHS mission and program aims, including identification of outcomes, selection of measures, analysis plans, and interpretation of findings.

  • Disseminate program evaluation results to key stakeholders to support improved implementation/service delivery.

  • Support the performance evaluations of all school psychologists

Professional Development Design, Delivery, and Continuous Improvement

  • Assess professional development needs to inform professional development design and delivery.

  • Organize and provide in-person and virtual professional development opportunities (training, convenings, and presentations) for school staff, families, and community partners.

  • Utilize the district structures to evaluate the effectiveness of professional development offerings and use data obtained to support continuous improvement.

  • Assess and revise pre-existing training and other supports and materials to ensure fidelity and a unified approach.

  • Stay current with best practices and research; share information and knowledge with schools through various means.

  • Contribute to the development of tools and repositories for school staff access and use.

School Site Technical Assistance

  • Provide technical assistance to school staff on the use of universal screening.

  • Provide consultation to school-based Student Support Teams on approaches or concepts such as Multi-tiered Systems of academic and behavioral support for students.

Partner Cultivation and Continuous Engagement

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key personnel and agencies in higher education to support the CBHM research team, university partners, and BHS leadership to evaluate the effectiveness of our work.

  • Work collaboratively with other relevant district departments (i.e. Academics, OMME, Office of Data and Accountability), committees, and personnel as needed.

  • Support grant writing efforts

  • Communicate and collaborate with supervisors, other departments, team members, and project personnel in planning, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of Behavioral Health Services

Staff Supervision and Support

  • Evaluate and supervise a subset of school psychologists. Obtain information from school leaders on the progress of the psychologist in meeting goals and objectives.

  • Utilize best practice coaching models to work with school psychologists and school staff in team and one-on-one settings; observe and model practice; and provide debriefing and feedback sessions focused on continuous improvement of practice.

  • In collaboration with BHS leadership, this position will assist with the development and implementation of a variety of workforce development initiatives including:

  • Leadership of the BHS University training committee

  • Leadership of the BHS HSP Doctoral training program

  • Oversight of the BHS mentoring program

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Supporting and collaborating with school leaders to ensure the delivery of high-quality behavioral health services to students and schools

  • Complete other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications/ Knowledge/ Experiences

  • Master's degree or higher in school psychology

  • Valid Massachusetts DESE licensure to practice as a school psychologist.

  • Five (5) or more years of successful experience as a psychologist in a public school setting.

  • Background knowledge and experience in Research and Program Evaluation as well as CBHM/Multi-Tiered System of Supports and Behavioral Health

  • Excellent planning, research, and analytical skills,

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work cost-effectively and efficiently

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with a variety

of diverse stakeholders

  • Ability to design, develop, and implement programs and tasks autonomously

  • Effective organizational, oral, and written communication, and planning skills

  • Superior interpersonal skills including but not limited to the ability to express disagreement tactfully, sensitively, and with cultural insight

  • A compassionate and inclusive leader who exhibits effective self-care skills as well as the ability to empathize with others in stressful situations

  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and social & emotional learning competencies

  • Possession of a growth mindset orientation

  • Skilled in the use of technology to support effective communications, presentation design and delivery, and data management

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, as well as Google Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Drive

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral-level degree in School Psychology

  • NASP Nationally Certified School Psychologist

  • Proven leadership ability and collaborative approach to finding solutions, achieving quality work, and delivering outcomes and materials on time in a changing, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with professional contacts, resources, and/or networks and relate to people with sensitivity, tact, discretion and professionalism

  • Strong computer skills and a working knowledge of statistical software (SPSS/PASW, excel), BPS Databases (ASPEN/SIS, SEIMS, Data Warehouse, BIMAS, etc.), and Google Drive.

  • BPS values linguistic diversity and believes that candidates who speak another language bring added value to the classroom, school, and district culture and diversity.
