Design coordination of seats and seat components. Coordinates changes with other internal company departments, vendors, and customers.



  1. Duties and Responsibilities (essential functions):

A) Responsible for the design and detail modeling of a variety of suite components in order to meet program requirements

B) Produce designs to meet specified cost/weight targets

C) Mechanical Engineers will be expected to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and suppliers.

D) Participate in Design Reviews throughout each phase of the New Product Introduction process

F) Ensure the successful integration of each design element within the product as a whole

H) Participate in the validation of the product (using such methods as prototyping, test, DFMEA)

I) Follow and contribute to the development of the Best Practice guidelines

J) From time to time, Mechanical Engineers must be prepared to undertake tasks outside of their normal duties as requested by their immediate supervisors.

K) Reviews specification as related to assigned job.

L) Prepares check list.

M) Prepares lay-outs.

N) Prepares structural sub-assemblies and drawings.

O) Prepares sketches for details.

P) Reviews drawing package to assure conformance to requirements.

Q) Submits completed drawings to project lead for approval and release.

S) Performs other duties as assigned.



  1. Qualification Requirements:

A) Knowledge and Skills:

i) Must have 3+ years CATIA V5 (or higher) and/or Pro/Engineer.

ii) Must be able to provide complicated lay-outs and program design studies.

iii) Must be able to interact successfully with engineering, tooling, and manufacturing departments.

iv) Must be able to function as part of a design team.

v) Must have a thorough understanding of manufacturing processes.

B) Education and Experience:

Must have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Design Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical and Energy Engineering or a related engineering degreeCATIA a MUST

Manufacturing Design Experience a MUST

VIEW JOBS 11/25/2021 12:00:00 AM 2022-02-23T00:00 Duties and Responsibilities (essential functions): A) New Product Development i) As a member of an Integrated Program Team, provide support to ensure program is successful and serve as the focal of Tooling, Fabrication, Operations and Manufacturing Planning to ensure the needs of these groups are met and communication is clear ii) Collaborate with engineering throughout design and development process, capture and document engineering/build problems and work with engineering to solve, support design review process iii) Ensure designs and build process meet cycle time expectations/goals iv) Perform PFMEA for general product and specific designs as needed v) Ensure drawings and designs meet requirements for internal DFM guidelines and continually update these guidelines as required vi) Work with Manufacturing Planning and Industrial Engineering/ME Planner (VWI) team to ensure routing and instructions for subassemblies and seat assembly are clear and correct and include proper instructions and tools vii) Prepare for a smooth product launch and support pre-production and production build areas B) Production Support Production and Design Improvement i) Provide technical support related to manufacturing ii) Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes iii) Determine root causes of failures using statistical or lean methods and recommend changes to designs, tolerances, or processing methods iv) Evaluate manufactured products according to specifications and quality standards v) Review product design for manufacturabilty or completeness Process Improvement vi) Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations Process Efficiency vii) Prepare documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures viii) Purchase equipment, consumable, and non-consumable tools ix) Train production personnel in new or existing methods x) Read current literature, talk with colleagues, participate in educational programs, attend meetings, attend workshops, or participate in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in the manufacturing field C) Perform other duties as assigned 3) Qualification Requirements: A) Knowledge and Skills: i) Must have basic knowledge of production methods, process capabilities, tooling processes, and manufacturing processes ii) Must be capable of preparing well-written reports and orderly reports iii) Must have basic knowledge of manufacturing and related operations with detailed knowledge of such fields as product design, engineering function, tool design, tool fabrication, ergonomics and EHS, space layout, handling equipment, production machinery and equipment, N/C machinery and equipment, factory methods work, etc… iv) Knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing principles preferred, continuation training will be supplied v) Strong knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and Operating Systems vi) Able to work collaboratively with cross functional teams and engage in healthy debate vii) Able to conduct fault isolation and troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical defects B) Education and Experience: i) B.S degree in a related technical field (e.g.: Industrial Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer/Technology, Aeronautics Engineer, or Electrical Engineer) or an Associate degree with 6 years related experience or 12 years of job related experience ii) Additionally one to three years of manufacturing experience preferred iii) Six Sigma or Lean certification preferred iv) Catia V.5 or design modeling a plus C) Competencies: Acts in accordance with company values and related competencies D) Communication Skills: Must have the ability to generate written communication and to operate required office equipment. Ability to read and review written communication.
