Job Description Job Description We are a fast-paced, growing heart and vascular clinic that is seeking a Cath Lab Registered Nurse. Responsible for direct patient care of the adult and geriatric patient in the outpatient cath lab/surgical setting.

Addresses the psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care related to the surgical patient. Communicates and collaborates with physician and team members to provide excellence in care. Demonstrates knowledge and adheres to Joint Commission standards, federal, and state regulations.

Actively participates in the routine checks of all equipment throughout the facility. Collaborates with the Director and all other team members in idea sharing, utilization of resources, and training of new staff. Participates in and encourages teamwork to provide patient – focused care.

Maintains a flexible schedule and attempts to meet scheduling requests of the Director of Clinical Services. Incorporates the organization’s mission and values in all day – to –day activities. Perks of the Role:

No on call No weekends No Holidays (company paid time off including holidays) Benefits and 401K with matching contribution 5x8 or 4x10 schedule options Essential Functions of the Role: Cath Lab/ PACU experience required, circulating, monitor, and scrubbing desired. Accurately assesses each patient to provide excellent patient focused care in the pre, intra, and post procedure setting.

Participates in administering patient care. Demonstrates ability to deliver manual compression for hemostasis of procedural access sites. Documents all pertinent patient information.

Maintains patient confidentiality. Maintains universal precautions. Applies the knowledge of growth and development to appropriate patient populations.

Ensures a safe and comforting environment. Assesses patients readiness to learn, and provides information and teaching, as necessary, to provide a successful pre and post procedure experience. Administration of medications as ordered by physician.

Provides emotional support for all patients/families as needed. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Licensure/Certification: Registered Nurse with current Missouri Licensure or Compact State Licensure, Current BLS required. Current ACLS preferred, must obtain within 90 days of hire.

Experience: Minimum (2) years of continuous catheterization lab, surgery, or PACU experience required. Previous critical care experience preferred. Working Knowledge:

Able to monitor, scrub, and/or circulate on all cath lab and surgical procedures including implantable cardiac devices, diagnostic and interventional vascular, and diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.

Able to pre – op and recover patients undergoing all types of procedures.

Able to provide direct patient care to the stable and acute patient.

Proficient in interpreting EKG and hemodynamic tracings. Technical/Motor Skills: Ability to manipulate various types of electronic and clinical equipment, calibrate and troubleshoot equipment, IV infusions, and computer equipment.

Ability to operate specialty equipment in the facility and to perform tasks at a “user” level. Interpersonal Skills: Must be able to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing.

Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with all patients, families, staff, and physicians. Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues and be able to communicate in a clear and understandable manner appropriate to the age/developmental stage of the patient/visitor. Age – Specific Criteria:

Must be knowledgeable and possess the skills necessary to provide care specific to the age related needs of the patient and interpret data specific to the age group. These groups shall include adult and geriatric. Cognitive Abilities:

Requires strong communication and organizational skills. Must demonstrate independent judgement and sound reasoning ability. Must be able to work closely with the Director of Clinical Services to interpret rules, regulations, and licensing standards and effectively communicate and follow policies/procedures.

Ability to comprehend and interpret complex clinical subject matter and meet department criteria for education and certifications. Must be able to accurately calculate in various systems for accurate drug administration and documentation of clinical information. Ability to maintain concentration and organization while dealing with multiple issues and frequent interruptions.

Sensory Requirements: Must be able to respond to patient/family needs by interpreting verbal and non – verbal expressions. Must have clarity of vision and be able to distinguish between colors.

Ability to distinguish between sounds and hear alarms, telephones, and patient calls for assistance. Physical Requirements This position requires a full range of body motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds.
