Montauk Yacht Club is seeking a Catering Sales Manager to join the team at our 107-room luxury property. Spanning 35 acres on Montauk's Star Island, Montauk Yacht Club offers waterfront views, a private beach, three pools, multiple dining options and over 200 wet slips that can accommodate boats from small day cruisers to 300-foot superyachts. Holding eight decades of East End history as an elite social club and thoughtfully reborn for the modern traveler, guests can expect classic East Coast architecture, well-appointed interiors and detail-driven amenities.
As Catering Sales Manager, you will be responsible for generating revenue through the sale of banquet and event space, catering services and related packages. You will be the key point of contact for clients planning events at Montauk Yacht Club, ensuring their needs and expectations are met with the highest level of service and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
Catering Sales & Client Relations
Identify and cultivate relationships with potential clients, including corporate clients, wedding planners, event coordinators and other individuals
Respond to inquiries, conduct site tours and provide detailed information about our catering and event services
Develop customized proposals and contracts for events, ensuring alignment with client expectations
Collaborate with clients to plan and execute events that meet their specific needs and preferences
Maintain ongoing communication with clients throughout the planning process, ensuring their satisfaction and addressing any concerns promptly
Event Coordination
Work closely with the banquet and culinary teams to ensure seamless execution of events, including meetings, conferences, weddings and social gatherings
Coordinate all event logistics, from room setup and audiovisual requirements to menu selection and special requests
Oversee event setup and execution to guarantee a flawless guest experience
Manage and resolve any issues or challenges that may arise during events, ensuring client satisfaction
Sales Targets & Reporting
Set annual catering sales targets and develop strategies to achieve and exceed them
Prepare regular sales reports and forecasts to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement
Continuously analyze market trends and competitor offerings to stay competitive and maximize revenue
Marketing & Promotion
Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute marketing strategies to promote Montauk Yacht Club's catering and event services
Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to expand our client base
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field preferred
Proven experience in catering sales or event planning, preferably in the luxury hotel industry
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain client relationships
Excellent negotiation and problem-solving abilities
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Proficiency in sales and event management software/tools
Knowledge of local event trends, suppliers and the luxury market
