Sodexo Leisure has an exciting Catering Manager 2 opportunity available at our Seattle Aquarium in Seattle, WA. The Seattle Aquarium is a high profile event space in the Seattle market for weddings and corporate events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Catering Manager 2 will support our Special Event Planner of all events at this premier location

  • High interaction with VIP clients day of event

You are/have:

  • A sharp eye for attention to detail

  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills

  • Experience creating floor plans/diagrams, assisting with inquiries

  • An expert in client/guest relations- this position will have direct client contact

  • Experience in executing catering and special events including many high end, fine dining banquets & weddings

  • Excellent event planning skills, and is visionary in regards to presentations and creativity

  • Ability to perform in high stress and energy atmosphere

  • Demonstrated knowledge of catering logistics, casual and fine dining, and banquet management

  • Other duties include, but are not limited to: internal billing, creating floor plans, assisting with inquiries

Position Summary

Oversight of catering activities for a small to mid-size location/unit with $500k-$1M in managed catering volume. Medium complexity with a high degree of hands on involvement in catering events. Strong client interaction.Key Duties- Oversight of Sodexo resources, recipes, systems and use of catering programs to direct daily catering events including; food production, inventory, product deliveries, invoices, and procurement operations.

  • Oversight of the sales process for catering and/or conference service events. Works with client and customers to design events.- Ensures employees have appropriate equipment, supplies and resources to perform their job, and meet goals, cost controls and deadlines as assigned.- Establishes and maintains a safe work environment including both food and physical safety in order to comply with all regulatory and Sodexo standards in various environments. Drives the Zero Harm mindset.- Complies with budget requirements by controlling costs (i.e. labor, inventory, equipment, materials) and making adjustments when necessary- Supervises employees by delegating, assigning and prioritizing activities, and monitoring operating standards

Basic Education Requirement

  • High School Diploma or GED

Basic Management Experience

  • 1 year

You will ensure proper service to clients during events, including proper set-up, cleaning, and breakdown procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Supervises all catering events. * Involved in catering events operations, including logistics, quality improvement, sanitation, and all facility-related activities.  * Works with the Chef in creating menus. * Trains catering associates in service techniques, menu presentation, and customer service. * Tracks and monitors the labor and food cost for each event. * Communicates on various levels to include management, client, customer and associate levels; maintains excellent client relationships. * Assists in the responsibility for all foodservice-related activities. * Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: * 2 years of food service experience including 1 year at the management level. * Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations. * Catering experience is required. * Some knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation. * Financial, budgetary, accounting and computational skills. * Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet. * ServSafe Certification. * Associate's degree is preferred.
