Overview

A catering bartender is responsible for providing exceptional beverage service at events and gatherings. They ensure that guests receive high-quality drinks while adhering to safety and sanitation standards. Catering bartenders also contribute to creating a positive and enjoyable atmosphere for guests, enhancing their overall experience.

This role will pay an hourly wage of $22.50

For PT roles: Benefits: 401(k) savings plan and 401(k) matching. OVG provides part-time, seasonal, and internship employees with one hour of accrued paid leave per 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours per year.

Responsibilities

• Mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipes and guest preferences.

• Interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner, taking drink orders and providing recommendations when needed.

• Assist in setting up the bar area before events and ensure it is well-organized and stocked throughout the event. Break down the bar area and clean up after the event.

• Adhere to all relevant laws and regulations regarding the sale and service of alcoholic beverages. Verify the age of guests and refuse service to those who are underage or intoxicated. Monitor beverage inventory levels and communicate with the catering team to ensure adequate supplies are available. Replenish stock as needed.

• Process payments accurately and efficiently, handling cash and credit card transactions.

• Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment, including the bar area, equipment, and utensils. Follow proper food safety procedures at all times.

Qualifications

• Experience: Previous experience as a bartender, preferably in a catering or events setting, is often required.

• Knowledge: Strong knowledge of beverage recipes, mixology techniques, and drink presentation. Familiarity with a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

• Customer Service Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for interacting with guests and providing exceptional service.

• Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with catering staff and other bartenders to ensure smooth operations.

• Adaptability: Flexibility to work in various settings and adjust to changing demands and priorities.

• Physical Stamina: Catering bartenders may need to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects, so physical stamina and endurance are important.

• Certifications: Depending on local regulations, bartenders may need certifications such as ServSafe or TIPS (Training for Intervention ProcedureS) for responsible alcohol service.
