Principal Function: The Catering & Banquet Sales Manager is responsible for all catering and banquet sales and coordination. Acts as a point of contact for external and internal clients for contracted events. Informs and directs the Banquet Supervisor and support staff in execution of contracted events. Maintains organizational calendar of event space use. Responsible for annual revenue and expenses for the segment of business.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to:
Manages event sales and contracts, maintaining organizational calendar based on events contracted.
Manages internal events and creates associated invoicing.
Orchestrates showings, tours, and planning meetings/ calls
Performs all invoicing, and processing payments through accounting, ensuring accounts are complete.
Updates pricing and options for venues, menus, and add-ons.
Maintains or produces sales collateral requesting website updates as needed
Directs or assists in event set-up and tear down when necessary.
Resolves day of issues when Banquet Supervisor needs assistance.
Sets up AV and support as contracted
Performs end of month and annual budget reviews and forecasting
Conducts performance evaluations for Banquet Supervisor
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises the Banquet Supervisor and support staff. Employee carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; scheduling and approving time worked; appraising performance; rewarding and correcting employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in institutional restaurant management, or other related field is required; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in a catering and/or banquet sales role is required. Previous experience working in the museum and/or entertainment park industry is desired.

Computer software skills required include: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience with Micros POS software is desired.
A working knowledge of health and safety regulations is required.
The knowledge of creatively designing menus and purchasing goods is required.
The ability to resolve customer complaints in an efficient and expeditious manner is required.
A working knowledge of the processes and required procedures involved to schedule and set-up an event is required.
The ability to create and follow-up on potential catering and banquet events is required.
The ability to operate a computer, printer, copy machine, scanner, fax machine, and other office equipment is required.
The ability to speak, read and write in English is required. Spanish is desired.

Conner Prairie is generally open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday, this position will require work beyond these hours when open for special events.
