Join our Strategic Sourcing team as a Strategic Sourcing Program Manager, Silicone Molding & Extrusion where you will support and lead the development and execution of short & long-term commodity and sub-commodity strategies across Medtronic Operation Networks / Operating Units. You will engage with Operation Networks / Operating Units leadership to ensure the delivery of effective procurement strategies and standards that deliver Medtronic's overall operations and business results.

As the Strategic Sourcing Program Manager, Molding & Extrusion you will facilitate Operation Networks discussions that will optimize the commodity in terms of quality, service, technology, market intelligence, risk, and total cost of ownership for Medtronic's Plastics Components - Thermoplastic and Silicone Molding and Assemblies with spend up to $200M. Partnering closely with Pan-Medtronic's Plastics commodity team, you will work to leverage cross Operations Network strategies at an enterprise level and continuously work to develop and improve leveraging opportunities by consolidating spend with key business partners supporting the broader interests of Medtronic.

A Day in the Life

As the Strategic Sourcing Program Manager, Molding & Extrusion you will lead cross-functional, cross-divisional programs in the development and implementation of strategies and goals for assigned suppliers in support of business objectives for driving improved supplier relationship management, improved service, quality assurance, advancing technology with R&D / new product development teams, risk reduction/mitigation, and delivering lowest total cost of ownership.

Supporting Supply Strategy Development & Commercial Agreements, you will:

  • Support Development & deployment of global category strategy roadmap in alignment with Operation Networks and Operating Units

  • Negotiate cross Operation Networks and Operating Units agreements with suppliers including purchasing, development, supply, VMI, etc.

  • Manage resin strategy across the enterprise

  • Monitor agreements for compliance and drive supplier accountability.

  • Partners closely with Medtronic legal department to deliver best in calls working contract terms/language.

Supporting Material Cost Optimization Roadmap Strategy & Innovation, you will:

  • Lead and manage cost improvement & and supplier performance owning SRM execution for assigned suppliers

  • Lead total cost management of assigned suppliers with program management responsibility for SUCCESS program

  • Support long-term cost optimization roadmaps, identify and leverage technology innovation from the commodity supply base.

  • Utilize analytics & metrics to identify, and organize suppliers accordingly, in conjunction with Operation Networks and Operating Units.

Supporting Supplier Performance & Relationship Management, you will:

  • Play a lead role in cross-network negotiations and supplier relationship management working with internal and external resources, responsible for driving commodity rationalization, simplification, and localization. Focus on identification of synergies and identification, forming and leveraging strategic alliances.

  • Lead efforts for category/supplier analysis, selection processes, make/buy, outsourcing, & business transitions.

  • Develop market & category risk reduction strategies in partnership with the operating unit.

Supporting Supply & Supplier Market Intelligence, you will:

  • Provide global market intelligence for the plastics category and provide insights to support network optimization opportunities.

  • Obtain and communicate the market condition and technology trend information regarding commodities and suppliers. Implement appropriate business opportunities driving value to the enterprise.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

Nice to Have

  • Highly skilled in data analytics with a proven history of data-driven results

  • Experience in the Silicone Molding and Extrusion processes

  • Experience in the resin market and/or injection molding

  • Engineering Degree

  • Plastics category inclusive of proven negotiation experience

  • Highly skilled in developing and executing negotiation strategies with strong organization and collaboration skills

  • Skilled in developing category strategies, contract reviews, lean manufacturing, business case development, and utilizing e-commerce in a regulated environment (preferably the medical device industry).

  • Excellent knowledge and application of Excel and Analytics tools

  • Experience in forming and maintaining strategic alliances

  • CPIM certification

  • Experience in cross-functional commodity teams

The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
