Category Manager, MRO (3673)

Position Overview

The Category Manager is responsible for leading all sourcing activities related to corporate wide supplier spend in assigned spend category. The incumbent will, in partnership with the stakeholders, identify cost benefit opportunities for supply of goods and services. The incumbent will manage a team of procurement specialists and sourcing managers and personally manage supplier bid processes and negotiate agreements with new or existing suppliers that have an impact on our ability to meet or exceed corporate spend reduction goals as well as supplier service levels. The incumbent will lead and manage best practices initiatives including but not limited to development of catalog and no touch purchasing processes to drive to world class MRO purchasing practices and processes.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Establish and/or maintain positive, collaborative relationships stakeholders, including but not limited to the Directors reporting to the respective C level executives

  • Understand industry trends and apply to procurement strategies

  • Establish and manage a set of suppliers and related agreements that allow business department and procurement objectives and goals to be met for procured goods and services

  • Manage the development of and day to day operations of a team of 2-3 category assigned specialists and/or sourcing managers

  • Utilize benchmarking, key performance indicators (KPI's), and other available data analytics to meet or exceed departmental goals and objectives

  • Communicate consistently and efficiently with other peer group Category Managers (and equivalent), director, category stakeholders and vice president level executives

  • Document/track benefits associated with category sourcing and contracting

Experience and Skill Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience leading and executing strategic sourcing initiatives required

About this role: Experienced Procurement professional responsible for leading procurement sourcing projects and negotiations in selected categories. Additional Locations: Stamford, CT and Arlington, VA What you'll do: * Coordinates category activities across Gartner's Global Facilities, Real Estate and Workforce Planning (REWP) organization in order to effectively interact with stakeholders. * Build strong partnerships with internal stakeholders to identify new opportunities for negotiated cost savings and measure business impact. * Competencies and knowledge in contract development, including key contracting principles, standard terms, laws/regulations, and industry standards. * Experience negotiating complex agreements for assigned categories. * Applies sourcing methodologies to develop negotiating strategies that enable effective negotiations, vendor management and process improvement. * Analyze pricing, vendor stability, and proposals to ensure a fair, ethical, and level playing field. * Maintains knowledge of current trends, vendor capabilities and changes within the supplier landscape for traditional and emerging solutions. * Experienced in managing and optimizing supplier performance, including contract compliance, continuous improvement, innovations, and reduction in total cost of ownership. * Lead cross functional teams through a disciplined sourcing process and project management to support sourcing, supply management and operations objectives. * Works with Gartner's Legal, Risk and IT Security teams to mitigate risk through the review of both legal and business terms. * Communicate effectively with suppliers, associates and leadership. * Responsible for ensuring all spend in commodity area is under Procurement management. * Responsible for the administration of Delegation of Authority to ensure appropriate signatory. * Implement deals with external vendors which address Business Unit issues, increase value, and reduce risk. Direct impact to Gartner's bottom line. .
