Job Description
Under the direction of a category manager, the Category Manager Intern will assist in developing new products, conducting market research to understand end-user trends, coordinating launch materials, and updating/proofing websites for accuracy. The intern will work closely and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across the business. This internship will be full-time during the summer and part-time during the school year. The intern will work a hybrid schedule with 3 days per week in office.
Responsibilities
Assist product managers with the development of new products, including line extensions
Prepare margin analysis, competitive pricing information, and other financial analysis as needed
Collect and present financial analysis of product lines to identify opportunities to improve margin or recommend SKU rationalization
Help with end-of-life SKU rationalization efforts; phase-out documentation where needed for product life cycle management
Conduct market research to understand end-user trends and preferences, product line gaps versus competition, and emerging technologies
Coordinate launch materials under direction of product managers and channel marketing services specialist
Pack and ship launch kits
Assist with "new item" setup data collection to accelerate on-boarding new product to customer websites
Support the development and proofing of product marketing materials and messaging
Develop video, image and product description content in addition to webtools to facilitate a positive shopping experience
Update and proof websites for accuracy, facilitating changes with appropriate parties as needed
Qualifications
Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business Administration; minimum sophomore standing and GPA of 3.0 or higher
Ability to commute 3 days per week to the Oak Creek, WI office
Year-Round Availability (summer 40 hours/week; school year preferred 20 hours/week depending on class schedule)
Concentration and/or interest in marketing is preferred
Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and timelines in a dynamic work environment
Strong organization and analytical skills with keen attention to detail
Excellent collaboration and communication (written, verbal, and visual) skills
Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
