Job Description

Under the direction of a category manager, the Category Manager Intern will assist in developing new products, conducting market research to understand end-user trends, coordinating launch materials, and updating/proofing websites for accuracy. The intern will work closely and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across the business. This internship will be full-time during the summer and part-time during the school year. The intern will work a hybrid schedule with 3 days per week in office.

Responsibilities

  • Assist product managers with the development of new products, including line extensions

  • Prepare margin analysis, competitive pricing information, and other financial analysis as needed

  • Collect and present financial analysis of product lines to identify opportunities to improve margin or recommend SKU rationalization

  • Help with end-of-life SKU rationalization efforts; phase-out documentation where needed for product life cycle management

  • Conduct market research to understand end-user trends and preferences, product line gaps versus competition, and emerging technologies

  • Coordinate launch materials under direction of product managers and channel marketing services specialist

  • Pack and ship launch kits

  • Assist with "new item" setup data collection to accelerate on-boarding new product to customer websites

  • Support the development and proofing of product marketing materials and messaging

  • Develop video, image and product description content in addition to webtools to facilitate a positive shopping experience

  • Update and proof websites for accuracy, facilitating changes with appropriate parties as needed

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business Administration; minimum sophomore standing and GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Ability to commute 3 days per week to the Oak Creek, WI office

  • Year-Round Availability (summer 40 hours/week; school year preferred 20 hours/week depending on class schedule)

  • Concentration and/or interest in marketing is preferred

  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and timelines in a dynamic work environment

  • Strong organization and analytical skills with keen attention to detail

  • Excellent collaboration and communication (written, verbal, and visual) skills

  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
