The CategoryManager I of Strategic Sourcing drives competitive advantage and value creationfor sourcing initiatives they manage. The Category Manager I has responsibility toexecute transactions between Gap business units and suppliers for acquisitionof software licensing and related support and professional services. He or she will manage all aspects of negotiatingcontract terms and pricing, as well as perform spend and data analysis, ensure processand policy compliance, perform market research, and facilitate ongoing support. The CategoryManager I will own planning, implementation, and execution of sourcing strategyfor specific categories. The Category Manager I will be responsible fordeveloping effective relationships with business partners internally andexternally at various levels.
Understand and follow the Non-Merchandise ProcurementPolicy, educating stakeholders as needed
Balance speed and urgency with costsavings in vendor negotiations
Manage and execute sourcing strategies for specificcategories throughtechnical/functional knowledge, in support of the business' short-term andlong-term plans. Has understanding of key strategic sourcing functions(supplier selection, market intelligence, business partner management, contractmanagement, negotiations, SRM, etc.)
Build and strengthen business partner relationships: successfully partneracross functions and levels with internal stakeholders, external suppliers,agencies and colleagues to achieve results
External Focus: Develop category knowledge and regularlyleverage industry experts, associations, peers and stakeholders to identify andbenchmark best practices
Achieve defined category performance targets; hold vendors accountableto performance agreements and implement course corrections and mitigationstrategies as needed
Leverage influencing skills to alignobjectives and targets with stakeholders
Business Acumen: category knowledge inthe following categories (i.e., Marketing, Technology, Transportation, Logistics,etc)
Ability to interact withsenior leaders and demonstrate a professional presence
Ability to learn andquickly develop subject matter expertise
Sourcing Capability: manage, plan, andexecute sourcing strategy to drive short and long-term results by leveragingmarket knowledge and collaboration and influencing with stakeholders. Excellentprioritization skills with ability to adapt to change quickly
Drive for Results: Demonstrated ability to work effectively inan ambiguous environment to achieve high levels of performance and deliversustainable results to the team
Experience: 4+ years professionalexperience in management consulting, strategic sourcing, or supply chain
Experience in a dynamicorganization with experience in sourcing
Familiarity with varioussoftware licensing models (perpetual, subscription, SaaS, etc.)
Familiarity with assetmanagement and cloud computing concepts
Experience planning andleading negotiations a plus
Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration,supply chain management, or related discipline; MBA orAdvanced degree preferred
