Essential Functions:

1.Selects vendors, negotiates costs and terms for products and develops schematics by applying category management principles in accordance with the departments strategic objectives.

2.Increases sales revenues by developing promotional concepts and overlay programs; develops category plans.

3.Establishes and monitors gross margins by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas; projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products and determining placement and promotions.

4.Projects and measures category sales and gross profit results by developing and maintaining records of item cost, retail and gross margin dollars.

5.Maintains external vendor relations by providing direction, guidance and information; resolving concerns.

6.Recommends changes in products, service and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments.

7.Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions. Allocates program costs by preparing operational and risk reports for analyses.

8.Maintains staff by assisting in recruiting, selecting and orienting employees. Maintains staff job results by training coaching, counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring and appraising job results.

9.Increases professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reading professional publications; establishing personal networks; or participating in professional societies.



  1. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing Financial and Key Result Area targets pursuant to Company plan guidelines.

Qualifications

1.Bachelor's degree in advertising, business or related field preferred. Other combinations of job related experience and education that meet the requirements may be substituted.

2.Three years of experience or more preferred in merchandising; including experience in management responsibility.

3.Expertise in MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word preferred.

4.May require up to 30% of travel.

POSITION SUMMARY Supports Category Managers with all aspects of category development to include collecting, entering, processing, and analyzing data to ensure appropriate analysis, monitoring, and execution of the Category Business Plans. Coordinates and communicates category activities relating to inventory management with Field Management, suppliers, distributors, and other company departments. Builds and maintains files for all sites, products, vendors, and related data elements used for price book within assigned categories. Job responsibilities essentially fall within these areas: Category development, Inventory Management, Monthly Reporting, and Analysis. This position will work very closely in the Food Categories. REQUIREMENTS A minimum of 3 years of experience in merchandising and/or related field required, and/or Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business or related field preferred. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must be well organized and possess ability to handle multiple responsibilities under constant deadlines with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy. Must possess well-developed verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Works with the Category Manager to plan and coordinate activities necessary to successfully accomplish category business plans and results. * Researches, compiles and analyzes sales results, product/supplier performance, pricing analysis, competitive and trend information; make recommendations based on analysis. * Analyzes category productivity by developing financial analysis systems and creating monthly category management reports. * Assists the Category Manager in managing product assortment, display, point-of-purchase, program execution, equipment rollouts and store communication. * Maintains category files, spreadsheets, records, and publications in accordance with company policies and procedures. * Communicates with suppliers to coordinate product introduction, sample requests, issue resolution, and needed follow-up. * Works closely with supporting teams on pricing activity, item/vendor set-up, inventory/supply chain, monitoring allowances. Ensures accuracy of data entered by Price Book. * Monitors inventory at each distributor's warehouse and manufacturer's warehouse to ensure opportunity for in-stock conditions at site level. * Organizes daily workload to ensure departmental priorities and deadlines are met * Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed Job duties may change with or without advance notice.
