Under the direction of the Local Business unit (LBU) PL&PF Manager, the Category Manager will focus to ensure seamless co-operation and execution of ABB Internal Procurement and Indirect Procurement activities. Develop, plan and implement procurement strategy focused on optimizing costs, quality and delivery. Accountable for Optimizing supply chain flexibility and material availability for Internal procurement & indirect portfolio. Ensure execution in accordance with all local business unit, global business unit, regional, divisional, and group function instructions and procedures.

Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Strategy: Leveraging the Continuous Improvement Process Sourcing (CIPS) process, implements effective sourcing strategies in line with business strategy ensuring that the supply base/suppliers have the capability and capacity to meet current and future business requirements. Ensures all relevant parties understand strategies and execute processes accordingly. Designs and implements cost-out programs and/or processes to reach financial targets.
Procurement :Manages planning and tracking of procurement activities, cost budgets, emerging country spending and savings forecasts. Minimizes risk regarding quality and financial exposure by buying in accordance with quality and commercial procedures and in accordance with Company guidelines
Negotiation: Negotiates agreements with main suppliers, and periodically renews price lists, terms and conditions.
Contracts: Adapts corporate contractual framework to the local business needs. Recommends frame agreements to management, and executes upon approval. Provides ongoing oversight and contract management with suppliers.
Agreements: Ensures identification, investigation, and selection of appropriate suppliers (focusing on quality, delivery, cost and sustainability) in accordance with Company policies. Defines and establishes local standard agreements with all major suppliers. Provides and maintains standard terms in purchase contracts/terms and conditions in line with Company directives and guidelines.
Business Continuity: Applies and implements SCM standards, tools, and processes focused on business continuity for the assigned commodity or group of commodities.
Cooperation: As agreed with business, participate Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Witness tests. as supplier quality representative
Bachelor's degree in, Supply Chain, Engineering or Business is preferred.
MBA or Master's preferred.
Knowledge of larger project business execution and mechanical / electrical category knowledge is an asset.
Proficient with MS Office Suite; SAP knowledge is an asset.
Continuous Improvement focus, be demanding and do not accept average results, Lean Six Sigma knowledge preferred.
Able to decide when, what and how to solve the problem and then take the responsibility with prompt delivery.
Good negotiation skills in a multicultural global business environment.
Good understanding supply market, logistics, B2B.
Ability to influence others. Result oriented.
