As a member of the team within the Category Management and Strategic Sourcing (CMSS) organization, the Category Management Senior Advisor is accountable for sourcing on, near, and offshore supplier delivery of customer-facing and functional business processes that lower costs and increase operational benefits to Cigna. This role could support one of the following categories: Information Technology Software/Infrastructure, Corporate Services, Business/IT Outsourcing and Professional Services and/or Enterprise Wellness

The individual will lead negotiations with suppliers to secure competitive prices, improve delivery, and achieve favorable terms to Cigna. Understanding of business process, legal contracts, and financial acumen is desired.

This resource must have experience in dealing with dynamic requirements that are tied to strategic level business objectives. The individual will regularly interface with managers, directors, and senior directors to complete assigned work. As part of strategy and contract finalization, this role also will interact with senior leaders at the vice president and above levels within Cigna.

Major Objectives

  • Support, execute and implement sourcing initiatives; take accountability for the results of these efforts

  • Execute clearly written contracts that optimize value and mitigate risk to Cigna

  • Establish the role as a valued advisor to business teams

Major Activities

  • Lead the end to end sourcing process, from market analysis to RFP, through business terms and contract execution

  • Analyze business requirements to formulate high level supply chain strategies and processes that are aligned with various Cigna business units

  • Research potential suppliers and recommend alternatives

  • Review and draft contracts with suppliers to optimize benefits and minimize risks to Cigna

  • Identify and implement process improvements

  • Lead and direct the proactive management and understanding of industry best practices and technology trends; provide insight to executive management

Key Competencies and Requirements

  • Bachelor degree preferred

  • Fundamental understanding of the healthcare sector and health services industry

  • Project and stakeholder management

  • Strong analytical, teamwork, and interpersonal skills

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of procurement and outsourcing principles, theories, and processes

  • Demonstrated experience in drafting and reviewing contracts that include Master Services Agreements and Statements of Work

  • Experience with eSourcing applications (Ariba)

This position is not eligible to be performed in Colorado.

Enabling near, and offshore supplier delivery within the business portfolio assigned to them. Lead sourcing and negotiations projects of varying sizes including highly complex competitive bids and direct negotiations in multi-year agreements with suppliers. * Contracting: Understand key contractual terms. Ensure contracts are written well and structured mitigate risks for Cigna. The strategic sourcing advisor will be accountable for the results of sourcing efforts led by them. * Stakeholder Management: Coordinate the involvement and requirements for all internal stakeholders including business, IT, legal, information protection, privacy and other departments needed to negotiate agreements. The individual will regularly interface with managers, directors, and senior directors to complete assigned work. As part of strategy and contract finalization, this role also will interact with senior leaders at the vice president and above levels within Cigna. * Market Research: Conduct market research to identify the right suppliers to engage for specific sourcing needs. Research potential suppliers and recommend alternatives. Lead and direct the proactive management and understanding of industry best practices and business/technology trends; provide insight to business. * Business Acumen: The Strategic Sourcing advisor should have deep understanding of the business process, contractual terms and financial models. Establish the role as a valued advisor to business teams KEY COMPETENCIES AND ATTRIBUTES * Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred. * Preferred five to ten years in category management, strategic sourcing, supplier management, or business operations role. * Minimum three to five years' experience negotiating business engagements, evaluating operational delivery models, structuring financial models, Project and stakeholder management or completing complex contracts. * Understanding of the Business process outsourcing industry &, fundamental understanding of the healthcare sector and health services industry operations strongly preferred. * Effective verbal and written communication skills.
