JOB TITLE: Category Insights Manager

DEPARTMENT: Marketing

JOB SUMMARY

The Category Insights Manager will develop and launch, with ongoing accountability, the Category Management function within CooperVision US. They will lead the Corporate Account team (70% of CooperVision business) in launching category management principles, driving commercial capabilities, enhancing depth and quality of insights and developing long term customer partnerships based on the generation and use of key insights to ultimately grow category penetration. They will also establish, transfer and be accountable for the roll-out of best practices, insights and learnings to the commercial teams for execution.

Primary focus: To lead the Corporate Account team in launching category management principles and as a result, drive customer relationships from transactional through to long-term partnership via 'Category Influencer' status.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Accountable for the creation and execution of a long-term plan and strategy for Category Management.

  • Provide guidance on patient and category trends and projections.

  • Provide actionable customer focused insights regarding product and category. Maintain a repository of insights relevant across accounts. Identify key business issues and champion annual market research plans to address gaps and opportunities.

  • Accountable for the selection and management of external agencies to deliver a repository of tools and insights for category execution.

  • Accountable for developing and driving category relationships with Corporate Accounts to establish CooperVision as a category expert and influencer.

  • Collaborate with Corporate Account teams to develop, generate and translate customer insights into strategies and tactics that drive performance.

  • Partner with accounts to increase access to category data and analyze to identify insights, trends and category opportunities.

  • Provide insights to help develop programs to drive increased contact lens penetration in key accounts. Share best practices across accounts.

  • Become the expert in contact lens consumer behavior and how that can be used to maximize our customers and our business.

  • Become the expert in front of house store behavior and influencers. Develop and implement programs that drive front of house staff behavior to grow the CL segment and CVI's share.

  • Become the expert in Customer Brand selling. Develop and implement programs and best practices to drive front of house staff behavior to support Customer Brands and ECPs to fit as lens of choice.

  • Become the leader in category ranging, pricing and promotions with Corporate Accounts.

  • Deliver a range of materials and tools that are scalable upwards or downwards based on customer size, capabilities and partnership.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated leadership skills; ability to manage diverse, remote and cross-functional teams inside & outside of CVI required, including ability to influence at all levels of the commercial business (up to executive level).

  • Experience of selection and management of external agencies.

  • Experience interpreting data into actionable insights.

  • Strong knowledge of organizational dynamics; proven history of managing within complex business environments required.

  • Excellent applied qualitative and quantitative analytic skills required.

  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Office-based with travel to other CVI locations, customer sites and industry events. Travel approximately 25%.

  • Sedentary to light physical effort necessary to perform the job.

  • There will be extended periods of sitting and using a computer.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA/MS preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 10 (typically 10-15) years commercial experience ideally to include a mix of Senior Brand & Customer Marketing, Key Account Management and Category Management within the retail environment.

  • Experience working with large retailers and/or other classes of commercial trade or practitioner affiliated groups for a B2B2C product portfolio.

  • Experience in driving demand within a different industry would be advantageous.

  • Experience in the vision care category or a similar B2B2C environment would be a plus.

  • The ability to analyze and make accurate conclusions to support category decisions based on key data.

  • A thorough understanding of retail insights.

  • The ability to persuade / influence at all levels of the company.
