Business Unit Overview:
The Pet Retail team is part of the US Pet Health team focused on the sales of Elanco's products through retail channels of distribution including Pet Specialty Retail, E-Commerce sites, FDM/Mass merchants as well as other specialty or niche retailers. Combined with the recently acquired Bayer Animal Health product lines, Elanco offers an unparalleled line of pet health solutions to the consumer.
As a result, the team is expanding to deliver against this key business segment with dedicated resources to achieve short- and long-run business objectives.
The Category Business Analyst is responsible for developing and effectively communicating market performance information concerning products, customers, market trends, competitors in support of the Pet Retail Team. This role will be responsible for assessing the pet retail market across all channels and providing a macro level view of the market, the shopper and the category in support of Pet Retail leadership, Pet Retail Marketing and other internal groups.
Working as a critical part of the commercial team the category leader will analyze data from numerous internal and external sources, develop depth of knowledge about the shopper, the category and the channels providing reviews on a regular cadence as well as responding to ad hoc requests. This role will also be central to annual business planning for retail and measurement/tracking of results against KPIs and other metrics.
Essential Job Functions:
Measure and report category level sales and market performance across all channels at the National level. This includes reporting by channel, by product type, form and other relevant measures.
Provide analytics support to the Pet Retail leadership and marketing teams.
Analyze data from multiple internal and external sources including retailer POS data, Elanco sales data and third-party data such as Nielsen, IRI and others.
Create score cards, dashboards and other reports that support the needs of the Pet Retail and Pet Health team.
Demonstrate thought leadership and be the expert on channel dynamics, the shopper and trend impacting the pet retail environment across and within all trade channels.
Work cross functionally with internal analytics groups, marketing research and marketing.
Deliver accurate and effective presentations to the sales team, project teams and business leaders.
Support the annual business planning process for Pet Retail and Marketing by providing reports, conducting ad hoc analyses and category expertise to drive decision making in resource allocation and marketing mix.
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing or Social Science, MBA preferred
Minimum 3 years' experience in business analysis or category management

Previous experience working with syndicated data such as IRI/Nielsen
