As a Category Specialist within our Finance division, you will build relationships with our business partners and recommend category and supplier strategies to drive value. You will initiate strategic sourcing activities for the professional services category of spend, with the goals of achieving significant cost reductions, improving product quality and supplier service levels as well as negotiate best in class commercial contracts. Sourcing the highest quality vendors, products and materials at the most competitive price, you'll support our commitment to low-cost investing.


In this role, you will

  • Own medium- and high-complexity sourcing transactions. Responsible for sourcing vendors and negotiating prices for products and services.

  • Drive engagements through the defined sourcing triage process, resolving issues and involving stakeholders as needed. Interface heavily with other Sourcing Operations teams (RFx, Contracting), business owners, and Legal & Risk partners, as needed, for each transaction. Provide recommendation on vendor to business through data analysis and maintaining knowledge in specific category.

  • Ensure proper closure of transaction including: Successful handoff to Purchasing and Payables associates; Validation that supplier will comply with agreed-upon payment terms; contracting team receives documents in good order for catalogue and storage.

  • Support crew adherence to procurement policies and procedures.

  • Perform rapid sourcing activities by ensuring the application of fair business practices and consistent procurement of products and services at the best execution and best price.

  • Adhere to goals, examines ways to raise standards, and improve overall performance of the department.

  • Support departmental process and technology initiatives.

  • Participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

What it takes

  • Undergraduate degree in business or related field preferred or equivalent combination of training and experience

  • Minimum of five years general business experience and five years of experience buying goods/services (incl. contract negotiations)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Experience with financial support systems and e-commerce

  • Experience working with all levels of an organization (internal and external)

  • Demonstrated ability to lead with the ability to persuade and influence

  • Deep industry knowledge and experience in IT, Banking and Investment Related Services
