Responsible for creating and managing customer-specific category management deliverables for both the Walmart Inc. Sales team and directly to Walmart Buyers. There is specific emphasis on actionable category and shopper insights that drive the business for both Walmart Inc. and Mohawk Home (MHK). The position is expected to be the go-to category management expert, to include in-depth category, consumer and shopper expertise. Key responsibilities include customer development, retail execution, insight activation and cross-functional collaboration (described in more detail below). Importantly, this position requires both data and business savvy, as well as effective communication and problem solving skills in order to provide consultative category management to both internal and external customers alike. Major Function & Scope:
Business Management and Development
Translate category and shopper insights into customer and channel implications and opportunities
Act as category champions identifying ideas for total category growth -translate those ideas into actions for MHK
Identify ideas for using our brands and products to achieve category growth objectives
Gather and share competitive intelligence information and implications
Customer Development and Retail Execution
Support delivery of formal category reviews to the customer, identifying current state, business drivers and opportunities for growth
Assist in the assessment of shelf layout and productivity, develop shelving recommendations to optimize category performance, manage schematic development and distribution
Help create and deliver fact-based presentations that compel customer (s) to take action against opportunities to improve their performance with MHK solutions
Actively participate in the improvement of retail MAPS (Merchandising, Assortment, Pricing and Shelving) execution
Broadly share best practices and successful retail execution examples such that others can adopt and replicate with their customers
Assist in the development of category growth stories and category 101 presentations
Actively leverage the INSIGHTS> IMPLICATIONS> ACTION framework to ensure continual progress in our collective ability to activate meaningful business building insights with our retail customers
Contribute to the development and maintenance of a strong relationship between Category Management and CCSI, help establish and drive a joint partnership on short and long-term insight activation strategies
Actively partner with CCSI, peers on the broader Category Management team, MOO, Brand and customer teams to share learning agenda topics and subsequent research interpretation and activation
Engage in active learning to improve skill set in proactively identifying insights from consumer and/or shopper behavior, understanding and translating implications into retailer action that grows sales
Cross Functional Collaboration
Educate others, both internally and externally, about key business assessment enablers including research, tools, case studies and subject matter experts
Foster cross-functional relationships in order to maximize the final deliverables and results
Knowledge, Experience, Competencies Required:
Bachelor's Degree in a business related field required.
3-5 years sales related experience
Related product knowledge
Fluency in Microsoft Office
Exposure to forecasting
Excellent sales presentation skills: excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills to effectively interact with senior management, internal and external business contacts.
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Financial acumen for non-financial managers
Broad knowledge of the Company's products/services and systems
