Position Summary

Under the direction of Senior Leadership, this position is responsible for the development, coordination and leadership of a fully integrated catastrophe response plan. Under the general direction of Senior Leadership, this individual leads and directs Catastrophe Response across the organization including initiating catastrophe deployment, enhancing network coverage, ensuring network mobilization and delivering business results through cost effective, timely resolution of Catastrophe Response for all business accounts. Responsibilities include overall strategic oversight and leadership direction of Catastrophe Response function. In conjunction with senior management, works in developing metrics, goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the Catastrophe Response, to include the development and execution of business and financial objectives.

  • Determines proper infrastructure for Catastrophe Response to be adequately prepared to response to catastrophe events throughout the calendar year.

  • Designs a Catastrophe operational model for the use of internal and external resources and during catastrophe, implements CAT response plan including managing deployment and use of resources and all administrative functions.

  • Periodically tests CAT plan to confirm readiness.

  • Offers on-site catastrophe management and technical and corporate/claim policy and procedure consultant services.

  • Implements, communicates and manages catastrophe-related policies and procedures.

  • Implements financial tools and metrics to analyze claim and catastrophe data.

  • Participates with senior management in the development and implementation of claims policies and business strategy.

  • Prepares and reports business progress, business activities and trends to senior management.

  • Keeps current on regulations and issues, industry activity and trends. May represent company in industry trade groups.

  • Upholds the Crawford Code Of Business Conduct at all times.

  • Performs other duties as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Extensive progressively responsible property claims handling experience, to include 5 years as claims adjuster and at least 2 years experience in catastrophe operations.

  • Prior catastrophe management experience, both on site and administrative.

  • Some level of formal project management training is desirable.

  • Ability to effectively design, implement and manage an operational model catastrophe response plan, to include managing catastrophe assignments from a system and financial perspective.

  • Skilled in critical thinking, creativity in resolving unique and challenging business problems.

  • Ability to do long term planning, and to be a strategic thinker.

  • Ability to initiate, organize, prioritize and coordinate multiple and complex projects and to identify more cost-effective ways of meeting customers' expectations and increasing work product quality.

  • Ability to effectively evaluate, map, and analyze business processes and trends.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of property estimating programs.

  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of team; to lead, follow, and collaborate.

  • Strong vendor management capabilities in accordance with corporate and department strategic direction.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, leadership, managerial and organizational skills.

  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
