Position Summary:

Performs radiology imaging and procedures. Operates radiology equipment and prepares the room with the necessary equipment, supplies for the procedure and any other duties assigned.

Is able to provide care for his/her assigned patients. Maintains technical skills, IV competency and is responsible for the use of equipment to minimize hazards and maximize patient safety while maintaining A.L.A.R.A. standards and performs other duties as assigned. Secondary duties include clerical duties, receptionist, answering phones, scheduling patients, ordering supplies, stocking the department, maintaining files and general cleaning.

Assist in collecting data for PI monitors and conducting QC on equipment. Adheres to the Rose Code at all times.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

ARRT, CT registered required

BLS certified

Education:

Graduate of an accredited radiography program.

Experience:
1-2 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Critical thinking skills

Patient care skills

Degree of Supervision Required:

Under supervision of the Clinical Lead/Director of Radiology

Maintains a sanitary environment for the provision of patient care. * Demonstrates knowledge of high disinfection and sterilization of endoscopy equipment. (Maintains daily log, testing for efficacy of disinfecting solution with each cycle, performs biological tests, test strips quality controls, and completes log, as per facility policies). * Proficient in the care, handling, and disinfection of all endoscopes and accessories. * Prepares the endoscopy unit adequately and ensures availability of necessary GI equipment and supplies. Cleans GI treatment rooms between procedures and prepares rooms for next case. * Utilizes good customer service while interacting with patient, family and physicians. Keeps patient and family informed on a timely basis. * Assists the physician with interventions as indicated (positioning, preparing specimens, GI tract tattooing, etc.) * Demonstrates appropriate aseptic techniques as indicated by interventions (hand hygiene, and equipment preparation). * Assists in the maintenance, care and labeling of specimens. Identifies specimen with surgeon and passes specimen to the circulating RN. Education: * Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred. Experience: * Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred. One year acute care experience; preferably in an ambulatory surgery center.
