What you'll do:

When you join the Automobile Club of Southern California as a Claims Representative II, you're bringing your expertise to a best-in-class organization that is focused on delivering quality service to our members. As an Associate within our Claims department you will:

  • This position handles moderate to highly complex claims matters involving auto physical damage written by the Interinsurance Exchange in compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements.

  • The primary functions include investigation, evaluation, and negotiation of automotive claims.

  • Employs discretion and independent judgment to ensure compliance with state and federal law; and with historical company, technical, and customer service Best Practices.

  • This position requires the highest level of technical skills.

  • Conduct phone and/or field investigations to determine liability and damages.

  • Identify and obtain statements from insureds, claimants and witnesses.

  • Comprehensive understanding of vehicle repair procedures and issues.

  • Valid driver's license with level of financial responsibility required by the Club and an acceptable motor vehicle record required.

What you bring:

  • Four year college degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.

  • Evidence of continuing education (i.e. industry designations) desired.

  • Experience servicing claims of the highest complexity required.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and industry-related software preferred.

  • Advanced understanding of insurance principles necessary.

  • Advanced technical knowledge and skills among peers required.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Initiate investigations, assess claims, obtain appropriate information/documentation, negotiate and achieve timely settlements of claims. As necessary, travels to the scene of the loss to meet with the insured in person to complete a detailed estimate of damages. May provide immediate financial assistance to client to ensure basic needs are met until claim can be settled. Responsibilities * Review, investigate, analyze and adjust large and complex claims. Key claim handling elements will include coverage assessment, investigation, documentation, estimate preparation, and claim file conclusion. You will be required to negotiate with insureds, claimants, public adjusters, attorneys or other professionals. Additionally, you will be required to assess the loss and establish appropriate reserves for these files. Specific territories will be established, travel to loss sites will be expected. * The large loss representatives will serve as the first responders and leaders in the field during catastrophe events. This will include responding and handling of catastrophe losses during events. * Overall claim file and desk management that will include document gathering, written and phone interactions, estimate preparation, statements, etc. File documentation can include photos, estimates, statements, police reports, and other items that will be pertinent to the completion of the claim file. * As a large loss claim representative, you will ensure your technical skills are at a level that will permit you to serve as a subject matter expert for your line of business. This will include the development of training, help-guides, etc. that will assist in the training of less experienced/new claim representatives. Additionally, you will participate in special projects and activities that will continue to drive the best in class behavior for the line of business. * Expectations will exist that within this role, you will perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications * High school or equivalent required. * 5-7 Years relevant experience required. * Valid driver's license and good driving record. * Exceptional interpersonal skills due to nature of relationship with client. * Excellent organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to work having a high degree of accuracy; strong attention to detail. * Experience with personal lines property claims settlement as to demonstrate advanced knowledge. * Negotiation skills – Necessary to negotiate with public adjusters, contractors, repair technicians, and/or insureds. * Obtain state specific property casualty claims licensing as required.
