JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Castings and Metals Die Cast Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our dynamic team and contribute to our ongoing success.

As a Metals Die Cast Subject SME, you will play a pivotal role in our manufacturing process, focusing on materials selection and the design, optimization, and implementation of casting and metals die casting systems. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the quality, efficiency, and reliability of our metals components in automotive applications.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technical Expertise:

• Serve as the primary technical authority for castings and metals die casting materials and processes within the mechanical engineering domain.

• Provide expertise in materials selection and designing and optimizing casting processes for automotive components, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.

Material Selection:

• Conduct thorough analyses of materials used in castings and die casting, making informed recommendations based on mechanical properties, durability, and cost-effectiveness.

• Stay abreast of advancements in casting materials and technologies, integrating new materials where appropriate.

Process Improvement:

• Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency improvement in castings and metals die casting operations.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement improvements and innovations in manufacturing processes.

Quality Assurance:

• Establish and enforce quality control measures in materials and processes to ensure the highest standards of product quality in castings and die castings.

• Work closely with quality assurance teams to develop and implement inspection and testing protocols.

Research and Development:

• Stay informed about industry trends, materials improvements, emerging technologies, and advancements in castings and die casting.

• Lead or contribute to research and development initiatives aimed at enhancing materials selection, manufacturing processes and product performance.

Training and Mentorship:

• Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior engineers and manufacturing teams to enhance their understanding of castings and metals die casting.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

• 8+ years of experience in castings and metals die casting materials and processes within the automotive manufacturing sector.

• In-depth knowledge of various casting materials, methods, and associated technologies.

• Proven track record of successful materials selection, process optimization and cost reduction initiatives.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
