CAST-Client Services VISTA 2024 (Year 1)
Since 1965, CAST has served low-income individuals and families on the North Fork of Long Island - an agricultural and tourism community. We are the only non-profit on the North Fork providing food and wrap-around services to help at-risk community members achieve economic security.
Our mission is to provide a safety net and promote self-sufficiency. CAST programs include a food pantry and mobile food pantry, a sharing room, benefit application assistance, and emergency assistance for rent, heat, electricity and other urgent needs. Our wrap-around services include the North Fork ParentChild+ Program, an early literacy and parenting skills program for at-risk families; a summer and afterschool program for underserved elementary students; ESL; computer, nutrition and citizenship classes; exposure to arts and culture; workforce development programs and job readiness workshops.
The CAST campus is centrally located in the Town of Southold and serves as a community resource center for underserved populations. The VISTA project will build the capacity of CAST by developing and expanding . An ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude and enjoy a fast paced, lively atmosphere. Must be comfortable communicating and networking and possess organizational skills, and basic computer skills.
VISTA members will have professional development and training opportunities. Bi-lingual Spanish is a plus. Member Duties : The VISTA will assist the Client Support Department in resource development and the creation of systems and procedures to optimize case management and client support. The member will develop and update a resource guide, develop a grant management system, develop and improve case management materials and research workshop ideas.
The member will utilize the Pantrysoft system to coordinate data collection and input and develop data entry procedures. The VISTA will assist our Social Worker and Client Services Coordinator in expanding resource inventories and advancing current procedures to be more efficient and effective to the community. Additionally, the VISTA will be involved in refining needs assessment, client progress and report analysis tools.
