Locations may include various Seattle swimming pools, the Amy Yee Tennis Center, or the Seattle Japanese Garden. Pay for this position starts at $17.57 ($16.73 + 5% Premium Pay to start) per hour. NOTE: This cashier position is not a regular position and City benefits do not apply. The premium pay is offered in lieu of benefits. A separate hiring process will be conducted in the future for regular Cashier positions that include benefits.
Working hours vary based on facility needs and your availability. Work Schedule may include weekends & holidays. This hiring process will be used to fill vacant positions for up to one year and may also be used to hire temporary cashiers at various locations.
Friendly, enthusiastic, and helpful customer service oriented person with a strong math aptitude and excellent verbal communication skills.
Fluency in English with the ability to speak a second language.
Knowledge of operation for a computerized cash handling and registration system or a strong aptitude for computer learning.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher;10-Key, and multi-line phones.
Willing and able to learn new concepts and procedures, with the ability to handle stressful situations with a positive attitude.
Ability to work independently as well as a strong team player that demonstrates reliability, engages in problem solving, understands constructive communication and exhibits care and commitment to their work.
Demonstrates strong cultural sensitivity skills when engaging visitors and coworkers.
Candidates must pass an extensive background check.
First Aid and CPR certification may be required within 6 months of hire, depending on the location.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Work is typically performed in a recreation facility/office environment and may be performed in confined areas; may require standing for long periods of time.
May require working in a remote location where the supervisor and other team members are at a different location.
May be required to work irregular hours, holidays, evenings, and weekends.
May be required to lift up to 30 pounds.
Work with culturally diverse populations.
Must be able to deal with customers who may at times be verbally or physically inappropriate.
Ability to speak a second language is desirable at some locations.
