Cashier

We are looking for a hard-working, reliable and safety minded individual to join our team as a Cashier, who will also be the primary backup for our scale house operator. In this role you would be responsible for the accurate processing and payment of materials received; and for the weighing and grading of incoming scrap loads; operating in-bound and out-bound scales; directing drivers to the appropriate areas for unloading; facilitating payment for in-bound material; and completing all required documentation. You will also be expected to perform basic office tasks.

This position may work outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

The working hours for this position are from 7:30am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities of a Cashier:

• Responsible for accurate and courteous weighing of all inbound and outbound trucks in accordance with company policies and procedures, and state guidelines.
• Document scrap material and supplier information into ticketing system.
• Complete all required records and documentation for payment of purchased scrap metal into the proper systems.
• Calculate daily transactions using computerized programs and balance cash drawer at the end of the day.
• Generate invoices, itemize lists and tickets noting materials and amounts due, verify weights, prices, and extensions.
• Assist current and potential customers with questions regarding the pricing of materials, the types of materials accepted, and maintenance of customer accounts.
• Complete and submit all required reports in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Perform basic housekeeping duties in the scale house and public areas to maintain a safe and clean environment for all.

Qualifications of Cashier:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous experience operating tuck scales preferred, but not required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and time management skills.
• Mathematical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to learn and identify various types of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus.
