Regardless of title, every employee supports WAU’s vision of producing graduates who bring moral leadership and competence to their communities.SUMMARY The Cashier is responsible for all cash and non-cash activities at the cashier’s station on a daily basis. The cashier receives payments in the form of cash, checks, credit cards and wire transfers and is responsible to receipt those in the cashier’s system and to the correct General Ledger accounts. The cashier will also handle all types of refunds to students, parents and staff. The cashier will maintain all records related to the daily cashier’s activity at the cashier’s office and reconcile at the end of the day to the cashiering system. Must maintain all necessary and supporting documents, files, posting reports etc. The cashier is also responsible to prepare bank deposits which includes cash and checks. The cashier serves as petty cash custodian. Prepare required cash reports for the Controller every Friday. Required Qualifications Must have knowledge and understanding of accounting and bookkeeping methods and procedures. Ability to pay attention to details and accuracy. Able to multiple tasks. Be proficient in Microsoft Office such as Word and Excel a must. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Receives and receipts cash and other forms of payments daily and accurately posted to the correct accounts.
Prepares daily reconciliation of cash receipts.
Balances daily cash and non-cash transactions to the reconciliation reports
Processes daily remote check deposits and deposit it to the bank
Avoid cash shortages or cash over
Reconciles daily cash transactions to cashiering system
Prepares daily deposits for verification and approval before it’s deposit in the bank
Assists students and/or parents with billing inquires
Accepts delivery of all student checks/disbursements from the financial aid and from the fund-raising department.
All checks must be deposited the same day when the checks are received.
Assists the Athletics coach by providing petty cash and keeping records. Make sure coaches return receipts for the petty cash taken.
Processes and reconciles Attorney’s collection report and the associated spreadsheet
Provide weekly report petty cash balance in the safe.
Answer and retrieving phone messages daily.
Aids in the collection of student accounts receivables both current and old accounts
Assist all students, staff and faculty across the University with questions related to payments and collections
Evaluate operational processes in the cashier’s office for efficiency and desired outcome and recommends changes as necessary to improve flow and accuracy.
Assists with student registration activities
Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Train student employee to be a cashier.

High School diploma and three to five years of related experience as a cashier.
A.A. in accounting, finance, or business administration preferred or compensated with experience
Technology Skills:
Knowledge and application of Microsoft Office Suite, including, Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook and Ellucian ERP.
Ability to learn new software applications.
Language Skills:
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
Ability to present before small and large groups.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to deal with variety of office situations.
