Cash Posting Analyst (Facility)

Job Summary The Cash Posting Analyst (Facility) is responsible for receiving cash, check and credit card payments, issuing receipts, posting payment data into the cash posting application. The Facility Cash Posting Analyst is also responsible for approving and reconciling payment taker journals and compiling the facility deposit in compliance with the cash control policy

Duties (included but not limited to):

  • Receive payments, including point-of-service, from patients and issues receipts (check-in and check- out)

  • Reconcile daily cash

  • Post payments and maintain required records, reports and files as defined by the Manager/Supervisor

  • Balance cash drawer

  • Maintain strictest confidentiality

  • Approve and reconcile payment taker journals

  • Prepare daily bank deposit

  • Interact in a positive and professional manner with patients/customers and coworkers

  • Serve as backup for registration staff as applicable

  • Participate in professional development activities

  • Attends in-service presentations, and completes mandatory education week, including but not limited to, infection control, patient safety, quality improvements, MSDS and OSHA standards

  • Demonstrates knowledge of occurrence reporting system and utilizes system to report potential patient safety issues.

  • Maintain required productivity and QA standards

  • Practice and adhere to the "Code of Conduct" philosophy and "Mission and Value Statement" and all policies and procedures related to the Collections department.

  • Other duties as assigned


  • Communication - communicates clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing. This includes utilizing proper punctuation, correct spelling and the ability to transcribe accurately.

  • Customer orientation - establishes and maintains long-term customer relationships, building trust and respect by consistently meeting and exceeding expectations

  • Interpersonal skills - able to work effectively with other employees, patients and external parties

  • PC skills - demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and others as required

  • Policies & Procedures - demonstrates knowledge and understanding of organizational policies, procedures and systems

  • Basic skills - able to perform basic mathematical calculations, balance and reconcile figures, punctuate properly, spell correctly and transcribe accurately

EDUCATION High school diploma or GED required.

EXPERIENCE Minimum one year related experience required, preferably in healthcare. Relevant education may substitute experience requirement.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS Requires prolonged sitting/standing, some bending, stooping, walking and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports or other information. Requires lifting papers/boxes and pushing/pulling up to 25 pounds occasionally. Work is performed in an office environment or hospital setting. Work may be stressful at times. Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people. Staff must remain flexible and available to provide staffing assistance for any/all disaster or emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities * Perform patient check-in at the time of visit; interviews patients and completes all paperwork necessary to ensure the admitting process is efficient, and all clinic and regulatory policies are in compliance. * Copy/scan patient medical records, benefit/insurance information, and related hardcopy materials (e.g. ID, referrals, insurance cards, etc.) into the correct location in the electronic medical record system. * Perform patient check-out including pricing services, coding of procedures performed, and diagnosis on charge, to accurately support the need and documentation for each service. * Collect patient responsibility payments, and answer routine patient insurance and billing inquiries. * Answer phone calls, confirm next day appointments, ensure insurance coverage, and alert patients as to what documentation is needed, including details associated with time-of-service payment schedules. * Gather, verify, and process referrals, authorizations, and pre-certifications by working closely with physician(s), patients, and payers. * Coordinate scheduling with that of the practitioners' schedules to ensure proper coverage of patient appointments and out-of-office calls. * Retrieve, file, and maintain charts and medical record documentation according to office protocol; coordinate copies of medical documentation with physician charges to support billing to third-party payers. * Manage the flow of interdepartmental, outgoing, and incoming mail. * Communicate requests and provide medical information to and from patient care providers in strict accordance with HIPPA and all policies and procedures. * Follow up with patients regarding the Missed Appointment Policy and send out the appropriate communications. * Perform other duties as assigned. BSLMG Qualifications Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred): * High school diploma or equivalent required.
