Responsibilities:

  • Conducts comprehensive screenings and assessments to collect information needed to develop a case plan.

  • Link clients to mainstream benefits and supportive services for housing, health care, domestic violence.

  • Provides assistance and linkages for homeless individuals and maintains case load.

  • Develops goals and timelines for service delivery in accordance with requirements

  • Maintains documentation for caseload of 25 or more clients with respect to activities and progress to goal satisfaction

  • Completes weekly case conferencing with Program Manager, and maintains complete and accurate documentation of services in accordance with federal, state, county, and VOALA guidelines

  • Meets with clients on a regular basis to establish goals, and action steps towards those goals, and to monitor and assess progress toward achieving housing goals

  • Develops and maintains inter-agency and community relationships with providers of supportive services within and outside of VOALA

  • Maintains strict confidentiality of employee, client, company, and vendor data, as well as handling sensitive and critical information with professionalism and discretion

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or related field preferred or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year experience working with homelessness or other related social services

  • Ability to develop relationships with families as well as a variety of service stakeholders and community providers (schools, health and public benefit agencies.)

  • Excellent oral, written, organizational, and motivational skills

  • Provides a social and emotional culture that supports and builds teamwork through a solution oriented approach; works constructively through any site conflicts

Special Skills Required to Perform this Position:

  • Knowledge and experience working with public housing authority voucher and flexible subsidy pool programs

  • Knowledge of domestic violence, poverty, and federally funded mainstream programs such as General Relief, Social Security Disability

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Effective written and oral communication skills

  • Valid California driver's license, insurance and reliable transportation

  • Successful completion of tuberculosis and background screening

Preferred Skills for this Position:

  • HMIS database experience strongly preferred

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred

Responsibilities: * Supervises operation and quality assurance procedures essential for successful operations * Develops programs based on performing assessment of need within the organization * Maintains required, records, reports and statistics for administrative, quality assurance, safety and control purposes * Completes weekly case conferencing. * Manage and coordinate programmatic monthly meetings with staff * Meets weekly and conducts one-on-one meetings with all reporting staff * Advise senior management regarding future program direction * Develop and maintain inter-agency and community relationships * Evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations to senior management for program changes and improvements * Works with Program Manager to implement new projects and procedures to ensure program performance is exceeding expectations * Coordinates the development, implementation and evaluation of departmental or program area policies and procedures designed to improve operational efficiency * Maintain strict confidentiality of employees, clients, company and vendor's data and handle sensitive and critical information with professionalism and discretion * Facilitate and/or attend small and large group meetings and training's as needed or required * Ensure all staff members receive orientation and appropriate training in accordance with organizational standards * Direct a full range of professional and para-professional employees in efficient program operations * Collaborate with other Adult Services program staff to formulate plans for effective recovery activities * Monitor program compliance to funding sources' regulations as well as internal policies and procedures * Other duties as assigned Requirements: Education: * Bachelor's degree in social work or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience (4 years of related work experience is equivalent to a bachelor's degree) Experience: * Minimum 1 year of experience as a lead case manager, program coordinator, or program specialist, or equivalent supervisory experience guiding and overseeing staff Special Skills and Knowledge Required to Perform this Position: * Knowledgeable of veteran resources available at the local, state, and national level Skills and Abilities: * Ability and desire to work with people from various backgrounds * Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through verbal and written correspondence * Ability to multi-task and effectively adapt/work under deadlines * Ability to lift up to 25 pounds Preferred Qualifications: * 2 years of experience as a lead case manager, program coordinator or program specialist or equivalent supervisory experience guiding and overseeing staff * Master's degree from an accredited college or university preferred Volunteers of America is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
