Job Description:

Louisiana State University invites applications for the position of Case Manager for Student Advocacy & Accountability (SAA). Reporting to the Assistant Director and Senior Case Manager for Student Advocacy & Accountability (SAA), working with conduct, this position assists in the interpretation and administration of the Code of Student Conduct. The Case Manager serves as a hearing officer in cases addressing alleged violations of the Code, manages the University Hearing Panel process, runs reports to analyze data and to increase efficiencies within the department, and assists with department assessment initiatives. Through their work in SAA, the Case Manager will help promote the divisional priorities of Quality, Mattering & Belonging, and Inclusion & Access.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE:

  • Accountability adjudication with behavioral, academic, and student organization cases.

  • Conduct administrative hearings with students and student organizations.

  • Manages the University Hearing Panel process.

  • Leads resource development and education efforts for academic integrity.

  • Assists with SAA assessment efforts to assure consistency with divisional priorities.

  • Supports supervision of Graduate Assistants/Practicum Students.

  • Run reports to analyze data to increase efficiencies.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR LEADERSHIP:

Advance the University Hearing Panel process for students

SAA manages the University Hearing Panel (UHP) process per the Code of Student Conduct.

The management of the UHP works with panelists consisting of students, faculty, and staff. The SAA Case Manager will have the opportunity to evaluate existing processes and procedures for the annual recruitment and training of panelists, ensure the overall UHP process is efficient and student-centered, and is compliant with all applicable university, state, and federal laws.

Advance the support for students and faculty with academic integrity resources

With more than 1,000 academic misconduct cases annually, a need exists to enhance support for students and faculty with comprehensive academic integrity resources. As the SAA Case Manager, you will play a crucial role in providing essential direction and leadership to nurture academic integrity within the LSU community. There is an opportunity to develop faculty and student resources that address contemporary trends and issues in academic integrity to lead the way in devising and implementing innovative strategies to educate both faculty and students, empowering them to adeptly tackle the challenges of upholding academic integrity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct Student Support

  • 70%

Conducts prompt, impartial, thorough, and equitable investigations of allegations and adjudication of the Code of Student Conduct and other University Policies regarding students and student organizations. Manage and develop academic resources, assist in running reports to analyze data to increase efficiencies, conduct training and presentations on behalf of the department, and assist in supervising Graduate assistant/practicum students.

Program Support

  • 15%

Manage the University Hearing Panel process, including recruitment, training, and logistics for hearings. Work on special projects that may include policy development and review, assessment efforts, coordinating communication with campus and community constituents, review of documents utilized with external/internal partners, and LSU CARES initiatives.

Quality Control

  • 5%

Ensures every aspect of administrative tasks, implementation, and overall design exudes a high degree of quality. Embraces and executes the marginal gains approach and seeks to improve the level of all services, events, programs, and experiences in the department for continuous improvement every academic year.

Administrative Support

  • 5%

Responsible for day-to-day operations for Student Advocacy & Accountability through administrative management of Maxient caseload.

Other Duties As Assigned

  • 5%

Other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean and/or Assistant Director of SAA. This includes but is not limited to: LSU Cares support, efforts that support broad division/institution efforts including at least 40 hours per year spent helping divisional initiatives such as Move-In Day, Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Career Expo, Disability Services, Finals Testing, other special projects etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor's Degree and at least one year of related professional experience working with student conduct, academic integrity, University Hearing Panels, or closely related experience.

OR

  • Master's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education and at least two years of experience working with student conduct or closely related experience.

  • Knowledge of legal issues related to higher education and student due process rights.

  • Experience in curriculum/training development and implementation.

  • Experience with Maxient or other case management tracking tools.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.
