The Job Training and Education (JTE) Case Manager/Instructor supports the Reentry Program that is funded by a grant. This role delivers classroom instruction and case management duties for adult Reentry participants.
The JTE Case Manager/Instructor will meet with clients at both Seattle Goodwill and the partnering regionally assigned Corrections Center. This role provides support and structure to particpants throughout their program assignment, conducts assessments, assists participants in achieving measurable goals and planning related to meeting basic needs, and providing support and advocacy.
Case Management Functions:
Conduct one-on-one case management to reduce barriers and meet basic needs. Assess needs, identify resources, give guidance, and monitor progress.
Provide services and/or referrals for needs through direct services utilizing Goodwill resources, or by referral to another organization, connecting students to outside agencies as needed.
Instructs and facilitates student comprehension of program competencies.
Sets clear expectations with students and follows policy and procedures.
Prepares lesson plans for classroom work guided by program curriculum and competencies.
Utilizes student centered approaches in classroom activities.
Coordinates with relevant support service staff to ensure that student issues are addressed.
Coordinates and implements community outreach.
Essential Functions for both Case Management and Instructor Duties:
Build professional relationships with students and site staff that facilitate successful outcomes.
Build direct relationships with community service providers, community employment agencies, and area employers.
Maintain clear and accurate case notes in database, and maintain paper and electronic student files.
Present individual cases at monthly meetings, and relay all pertinent student information to the JTE Center Manager.
Parnter with JTE staff as needed to ensure successful outcomes.
Actively participate in staff meetings, community events, and other departmental projects.
Demonstrates safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture; reports any potential hazards or accidents.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor's in social work or related field preferred; Associate's degree or a combination of relevant experience and education in lieu of a degree are acceptable.
Experience: Minimum 2 years social work, human services or case management experience or minimum of 2 years experience in a teaching/training environment. Experience working with the ex-offender population a plus.
Specific Skills/Knowledge/Licenses: Knowledge of local community resources and agencies, knowledge of pre-employment activities (writing resumes and cover letters, etc.), as well as government benefit and employment related immigration policies and procedures.
Ability to communicate and work effectively with students from a variety of economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, physical and mental abilities and sexual orientations and those with limited English skills.
Ability to practice confidentiality at all times.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to make good decisions without on-site supervision.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to learn new software as appropriate and necessary to the job.
Bilingual/multilingual capabilities preferred.
Must have valid driver's license and reliable transporation.
Essential Physical Abilities:
Lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds; to reach above head level, developed fine motor control (grasp, handle, manipulate objects with fingers; pushing; able to travel across a variety of surfaces (stairs, ramps, uneven terrain).
