Salary Range

$43,500.00 depending on qualifications

Essential Functions

The University of Texas Permian Basin's College of Education welcomes applications for a Case Management Advisor for the Students' Thoughtful Response to Educational Attainment and Mentorship (STREAM) Project.

1.Utilize a developmental coaching approach to academic advising/mentoring.

2.Facilitate students' academic progress by evaluating their needs and developing appropriate educational plans.

3.Maintain students' academic files that include a record of the advising activity that takes place during each visit.

4.Help coordinate, create, and deliver workshops for student populations.

5.Provide walk-in advising on assigned days.

6.Maintain all advising data and provide reports to the Title V Project Director and Student Success Activity Director as required.

7.Participate in the advising-related portion of new/transfer students' orientation sessions.

Required Qualifications

1.Bachelor's degree

2.Two (2) years of work experience in higher education.

3.Bilingual (English and Spanish)

4.Demonstrated commitment to a diverse, nontraditional, first-generation student population.

5.Effective written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.

6.Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

7.Ability to work independently and contribute to a team environment while effectively managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

1.Demonstrated evidence of self-motivation and attention to detail.

2.Ability to proactively problem solve.

3.Practice sound judgment, tact, and the ability to multitask under pressure.

4.P-12 teaching experience.

5.Experience implementing PeopleSoft systems, Canvas Learning Management System.

From the Department

UTPB's Title V Developing Hispanic Serving Institutions project, Students' Thoughtful Response to Educational Attainment and Mentorship (STREAM), addresses the region's K-12 teacher shortage by implementing evidence-based and high-impact strategies, activities, and services that will increase enrollment, persistence, completion, and placement rates of Hispanic and low-income students in UTPB's Education Preparation Program. Through coordinated activities, Project STREAM has three comprehensive goals: (1) to increase the enrollment of Hispanic, male, first-generation, and low-income students in teacher education programs by engaging with local school districts, community colleges, Hispanic families, and rural communities; (2) improve the retention and graduation rates of Hispanic, first-generation, and low income students through enhanced student services and expanding the paid teacher residency programs; (3) provide access to cutting-edge instructional technology resources and equipment to prepare students to meet Texas Technology Teaching Standards.

The STREAM grant was initiated in 2022 through a US Department of Education Hispanic Serving Institutions initiative. The College is committed to the preparation of competent and caring professionals for education and related disciplines.

Schedule

Generally, the hours for this position are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.

Standard Working Conditions

1.Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.

2.Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.

3.Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.

4.Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.

5.Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.

6.Standard working conditions may differ depending on department and occupation
