The Carrot Handler will inspect, sort, weigh, and package fresh carrots in a timely manner. Will be observing all safety regulations, ensuring all GMP and quality standards are met and maintain the efficient flow of product through the production process.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Will rotate through line stations every (2 hrs) or as directed

  • Responsible to ensure that the proper packaging supplies are positioned to assigned workstation, notify Bag Attendant as needed

  • Manually sort fresh carrots by size, consistency (1, 2, 5 lb packages) on moving conveyer, place carrots on scale and check weight

  • Manually twist bag closed, tape shut, and place finished bag on master-packer conveyer

  • Visually inspect carrots on conveyor and remove non-conforming product to rework tub

  • Keep area clear, clean, and place trash/non-conforming product in proper receptacles

  • At the end of shift, perform general housekeeping and clean-up as required

  • Complete other related duties as assigned or directed by the supervisor

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILTIES:

  • Read, write, and communicate as it relates to the job and the safety regulations

  • Learn to use the equipment and tools to perform job

  • Able to follow instructions

  • Able to meet company performance standards for the job

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Six months to one year experience in a production facility

  • Bilingual English/Spanish

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Able to work in cold environment

  • Material exposure-moving mechanical parts

  • Occasionally must be able to lift up 25 pounds

  • Must be able to stand and walk for an extended period of time

HOURS & WORKDAYS:
2nd Shift 3:40p.m-1:30a.m Monday through Sunday with rotating days off, when business requires overtime and weekends will be mandatory, shift hours range from 9.5-11.5 hours/day, a typical work week includes 5-6 days, with a floating day off.

" JOB DESCRIPTION: Washout Operator will locate and shuttle full trailers of whole carrots to the flume line for unloading, open gates, and remove empty trailer. Washout Operator will also operate hydraulic water pressure cranes to empty trailers of carrots into the flume elevator-conveyor system in accordance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and established SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). JOB DUTIES: * Responsible for heavy equipment operation including; forklifts, yard lifts, pallet jacks, and shuttle trucks. Moves shuttle truck to place product under washer, making sure that the correct load of carrots is being washed by checking paperwork against load information * Operates hydraulic water pressure crane to empty trailers of raw carrots into the flume elevator-conveyor system * Keeps track of loads washed for accurate data tracking * Writes ticket number, sequence, amount of load and time finished on tracking document * At times, employee will collect, rotate, dump and store raw-product into cull trailers, rotate stock in soaker shed storage, inventory stock in soaker shed storage, load transport trucks, and accomplish all other tasks requiring the use of specified heavy equipment * Will coordinate box changes to reduce overage and maximize efficiency and verify all tally file changes with Plant Operator * Perform general housekeeping and clean-ups as required * Perform other duties as assigned REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: * Knowledge of basic mathematical skills * Knowledge of e-mail, Internet software, manufacturing software, and Word Processing software * Must be able to follow instructions * Forklift certification required MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * High School Diploma or equivalent; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience * Valid California Driver's License and clean driving record PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Six months to one year experience in a production facility * Bilingual (English/Spanish) PHYSICAL DEMANDS: * Environmental exposure- cold/wet conditions (40 ° or below) * Material exposure-moving mechanical parts * Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles and vibrations * Must be able to lift, slide, and carry up to 50 lbs * Must be able to stand for an extended period of time HOURS & WORKDAYS: 2nd shift, Monday through Friday.
